I saw this on another board and thought it was kind of nice. Tell us what your avatar means and a little about your forum name. Mine is pretty simple- the picture is my dog ( yellow lab) and he is my #1 that goes EVERYWHERE with me. He jogs with me- hikes trails- collects fatwood- you name it he is there. He is a permanet fixture in the back seat of my FJ and is in the front seat when my wife isn't with me. His name is " Friend" and he truly is a blessing in my life . My wife of almost 40 years is my best friend and he is with her & I constantly. The name ordawg is easy. I am from Oregon and a SY dawg !! Some of yours I know- just thought it might be nice for some of the new guys . Thanks

Mine is from the Simpsons movie. Homer adopted a pig. A guy at work mentioned that his son's little league baseball team was called the Spider-Pigs. I thought it was kinda cool.

Re: Avatar /Forum Name - 02/28/10 02:33 AM

My forum name is my real name and as at the time I was the only 'furriner' kicking round the Yard, I thought I'd add the national reference.. I am very proud of being JYD 3- the first non yank to get the coveted title!

I've also never had any trouble buying knives off Dan and Patti- so thanks for that guys! I love my Yard knives. (Some American stores think the rest of the world are all thieves and liars)

My avatar was found on a Yahoo image search but it just screamed British and was just perfect for the Yard with the spike colar and the traditional 'two fingers up' rude salute! (I did check you guys didn't mind the rude salute, family forum after all).

(By the way the origin of the two finger salute is from the 100 year war if I remember correctly. The mean nasty French cut the fingers off captured English longbow-men (the French didn't like having their knights shot to pieces from a great distance!) so the salute just means 'you haven't caught me yet frog!' In fairness to the French I think we may have started the 100 year war by trying to steal the French throne..)

Oh yes, Whichdog, bless him, edited my avatar to give it a black background as he thought it looked better! He also did a pumpkin head dog too, during the craze a couple of years ago! Anybody else remember that?

Re: Avatar /Forum Name - 02/28/10 02:52 AM

When I enlisted in the Marines, Hogan's Heroes was a popular television show. One of the characters was Colonel Klink, the bumbling Kommandant of the P.O.W. camp where Hogan was "held". Because of a vague similarity to my last name and the fact that I was a Private, my SSgt. Drill Instructor dubbed me "Private Klink". He certainly was NOT going to address me as Colonel Klink!

I tucked that away in my mind until I joined Swamp Rat in 02', and decided to use Private Klink as my forum name there, and here since then. I was going to use a picture of the Sad Sack cartoon character for an avatar, but when Dan Busse named me the GodFather of the DogFather - the GodFather won out.

And when I was looking for an Avatar, this one just screamed at me. Note the Plunger sticking out of the barrel. Thought THAT was funny. And the Guy all dressed out in green makes it even funnier in my opinion.

So my avatar is of three dogs with hillbilly teeth, which started around a year or so ago when everyone started using hillbilly toothed dogs.

I still have an avater with an orange on the head as well, that too was another fad once on the SYF. I may not post as often but I do love my SY blades and I find myslef using my Muck and DM the most due to size and my location.

True story. Unfortunately for the Confederacy, Grant kept drinking. If McClelland had followed Lincoln's advice, Richmond would have surely fallen at least a year sooner.

Cool topic.

When i first came to the yard i couldn't think of a name. I was listing to my favorite band " The Deftones " when i was setting up my account. A song called " Knife Party came on. So that was the name i used for awhile.

Last year i changed my name to Left4Dead cause all my friends make fun of me cause im really into personal preparedness , guns , and high end knives. I always joke with them and say " When SHTF you guys are gonna bail out and leave me for dead ".

Doesn't bother me tho im all about hunkering down and standing my ground. My avatar is some traditional tattoo flash art of a pair of brass knuckles , a straight razor , and a black jack. with a banner of the words " Love Thy Neighbor " It symbolizes my love for edged weapons and impact weapons. I plan to get my avatar tatted on my arm one day.

By the way if you guys didnt know my real name is " Nick "
