Hey Guys- any of you compete in this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> ? http://www.bladesports.org/index.html I saw some at the show in Eugene and thought the Bussekin steel should do VERY well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I am thinking about going to their classes. It takes this to a new level IMO. What cha guys think ? Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Those are all special competition knives, and awesome at that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> There will be similar cutting contests at Blade in June, and it's fun to watch. It should be pointed out that what those guys are doing in the video is VERY DANGEROUS!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> Definitely NOT for the average person to try at home!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Cool video though - thanks Bob! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Good point Tom-I am actually going to attend their school <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. It adds a new dimension to my knife world <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. First I added sharpening and buying a great belt sander. And- this will take it even further <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> . I will get my butt kicked at my age <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />- but it sure will be fun <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.Let us know what they do at Blade in the way of Blade Sports-Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Pretty cool stuff. I remember Jerry posting a proto competition style knife. Very sweet blade.

Very interesting to say the least. I bet the Busse boys can come up with something to meet the challenge.

That knife looks ugly, but up to the task.

Re: Fun Times - 04/20/10 05:43 PM

Thanks Seth-I bought a Bushwacker from Troy at the show and then got to thinking about it. I went over to Jose Diaz booth ( great guy) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> and wanted a competition knife http://www.diaztools.com/knives.htm so I got one of these. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I already have DFLE and DFCG so i can maybe make a little competition course and see what happens. I am thinking about going for the training and attending some of the competitions. From your link it looks ad if Peter is pretty much on top of this as i am just a noob.Be great to get more input. I thought about going over to the Busse board as I am quite sure some of those guys know all about this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Maybe a bunch of us can get together and have a great time with several different knives. Might add a whole new dimension. Hopefuly this thread will draw some guys that know more about ths-pretty [censored] exciting I think <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />-Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes- the one does- but I am trying the comp chopper as this is something I can also use for other purposes. I have MANY choppers and would like to have suggestions of which Bussekin knives to go with. I am thinking the Bushwhacker- Dog Father maybe a Reg ? But-I simply don't know the larger Busse Infi steel that well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />.Or maybe the Swamp M9. These all chop well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I have some other brands- but I am more interested in the Bussekin knives as i am quite sure they will perform quite well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />.Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

BWM is dang sharp and the geometry seems to be really suited to the job. I think you are going to have a great time doing this comp and class.

I too would like to hear what Dan has to say <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. This could be great for the yard- a real chance to really show off pure performance <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!! Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

There's a ton of people in the comp from my area. I think I recognize some of the names. It's a small world.

I think Jose Diaz is up your way as well as Okunden Knives ( Brian) I am hoping maybe the Busses with get intetested <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. It is right up their alley-Tough knives that perform <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />
