I'm not a hunter so I would need an advice on a hunting knife , I know there are many o you hunters so bring it on . It doesn't have to be a particular brand and no more than $300 .

It really depends on what type of hunting you do. If you backpack into the wilderness to go after big game and only have what you carry on your back, you might go with something light that could still do "bigger" chores. For example, a Scrapper 5. When paired witha baton, you can do quite a bit.

If you are closer to a base camp, you could carry a smaller knife for cleaning/dressing out your animal and leave a bigger blade at camp for camp chores.

I guess "hunting" knife needs to be followed up with your intended purpose. If you are going to be killing a hog with it, you may want a knife like a regulator. If you are using it for cleaning animals you'd need a different type.

That's pretty close to what I was going to say. I processed two deer this year from field dressing to complete boning with a Swamp Rat HCLE, and a Wiener Dog.

A lot of good hunting knives can be had for well under $150.
As stated by Kuanomar your intended purpose is important.
For myself my hunting knife is only used for processing game and food prep type work.
As such I don't need a hard use blade.
One Scrapyard blade that meets my needs is the yard keeper.
I hunt deer and moose, and as such I generally prefer a 4 to 5 inch blade on my hunting knife.
PM me if you want me to give you a list and photo's of my hunting knives

The S5 would probably be the easiest Scrapper to get on the exchange currently, they come up fairly often. The Muk, BD or WD, or even MP would probably be good choices as well, but those don't show up on the exchanges very often...

My hunting knife is a Falkniven H1. Does a wonderful job, keeps an edge well and is easy to touch up. Probably fairly easy to find one there as well.

You would think it would be easier to find as it is made in Europe.

Yes we have them , but as strange as it might seem to you they are cheeper in USA , ,even ones made in EU , so I prefer to by from US . We usualy get togheter more folks from a romanian knife forum and make a larger order and split the shiping fee . You won't belive the prices on some knives here ...

Vlad, sounds like you folks are using your heads on this. Volume buying can sometimes result in a "break" of some sort. Good for Y'all!

As much as I love My Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat knives the most used hunting knife I own is a Wyoming knife. Cheap and handyand always in my pack.
