Well it's been GREAT, but like all goood things it has come to an end. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

There will be no more Scrap Yard Knives after the release of the
Combat Grade Scrapavore. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

That's it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Done are the 2. something inch,3 inch,4 inch "several",5 inch,6 inch 7 inch and the epitome 10 inch Dog Fathers.

And as there Swan Song a sword to satiate all the sword wanter's. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

So as you can see there is no more holes to fill, hence Scrap Yard must be done making knives.... right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Unless of course there is another knife that you feel that thousands of people would buy? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Well....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Peace.

chopweiler style blade shape on magnum mudders = Scrapulator

ScrapYard khukri = Khujo

10" Regulator = Xtra Regulator X or XRX (and a XRXLE)

SS4 in 154CM = Scrapper 4 LE (and hopefully in orange)

Multitool/Bottle opener = Scrapper Capper

Tanto with standard ResC = Brother of SOD or Yard Brother

9" double edged SR101 blade on regulator handle!!!! = The Yuardian! LE of course...

4.5" Mud Puppy = MurfPuppy or MurfDog (Murf for Murphy's Law)

add 1" to the scravore blade and ResC the handle = ScrapiReX

I have a great imagination...

Th Scrapivore CG is coming up VERY SOON.

In addition, there will be a significant introduction at or close to the CG release....if everything goes right.

I have been missing for days at a time from the forum due to the enormous hours I have been putting in to deliver whats coming. I thing most if not all Dogs will love it and each will find some part that they have contributed to this direction.

The Scrapivore CG is just the tip of this story...(sorry I just had to use the word tips)

Since we are asking questions; What are the colors that Dogs would most want to see on their Scrapivore CG's

Let me know and get ready for one heck of a 2011

On the Scrapivore CG's the colors I'd like are:

[color:"yellow"] 1. Tanker Gray

2. Sage

3. Black

In that order of priority. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Re: There are no more Scrap Yard Knives. - 01/10/11 08:27 AM

I think it'd be pretty cool to see red like the color that Scrap Yard is written in at the top of the page.
Other than that green and black would be second and third choices.
Orange would also be sweet!

LOL and some more!!!

You Dan were EXACTLY the person whose eye I wanted to catch with that cheap trick! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

It was a two fold ploy. First and foremost I wanted Dogs to express their desires on what kind of production they were all looking for since it does indeed seem you have covered almost all the bases in 4 short years.
And the second hope of my provocative title was perhaps to get The Big Dog himself to respond and throw us a thoughtful bone.

I WIN!!! On both counts!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Not only have you alerted us to fantastic new releases in 2011 but you dared to go so far as to hint that perhaps basic black was NOT the only color for the Scrapavore Combat Grade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Dan Busse, you NEVER fail to impress and listen to your Dogs.

We love you! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: There are no more Scrap Yard Knives. - 01/11/11 07:58 PM

I have to admit when I saw the name of this tread I thought "OH NO", something BAD has happened to the "Factory". Then I read PoP's Post. Whew, a sigh of relief.

I don't know about the rest of you folks but I forget that Dan does not operate Scrapyard Knife company all on it's lonesome. He SHARES the facilities (unless things have changed) with Busse Combat and Swamp Rat. I am sure that the facility does not operate 24 hours a day which would theoretically give each company 8 hours a day to MAKE knives. AND I also forget that prototypes take time to set up, build, tweak and get JUST RIGHT before Dan will release it.

SO IF we keep these things in mind we will just begin to get an idea of the frustration Dan must face every day to get knives made and out the door and all of us pressuring him to give us MORE MORE MORE!

I for one am sorry Dan, for the stress I have caused with my incessant badgering for this knife or that knife or "Is it here yet".

Dan Is doing the VERY best he can with the space, time, and facilities he has available to him and I THANK HIM for all his efforts.

Re: There are no more Scrap Yard Knives. - 01/12/11 04:07 AM

Randy, you get it!

Year after year within unbelievable time constraints Dan and his merry band have been able to supply our Military with thousands of knives to help keep our service men and women safe and well equipped with the second most important tool next to a firearm.

While doing this for our Military he has managed to fulfill every whim of The Yard. Even making a freaking sword. No Military sales here. Just for us.

And there have been many speculations about the 8 hour shift idea. Dan has stated that those terms couldn't be farther from the truth. Scrap Yards production time is very limited indeed.
And for him to constantly make what WE want is more unbelievable than most people would ever imagine.

Randy, you said it every well. Most people don't get it. Your post may enlighten the masses, and I thank you for that.

This "Necker" is one I whined about since Christmas of 2006.
With its release almost every conceivable length and blade shape has been met... with love from our host here in The Yard forum.

We all need to take Randy's point of view. Dan does more for his Yard family than any other company CEO I can think of.

Thanks,

Dave

Too bad Dan doesn't make firearms <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> We'd have a rifle that would never fail, never need lubrication, and would have a strong enough barrel that you could pry open a car with it. Who needs the Jaws of Life eh?

it'd probably way a ton though, lol. NOT that that's a BAD thing in a blade

Re: There are no more Scrap Yard Knives. - 01/12/11 05:12 AM

I think everyone has pretty much covered the colors I'd like for the 'Vore. Sage would go along great with my ACUs, especially with the ACU pattern paracord I have for it now. Blue would probably be my second choice (and purchase <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />), since it would be innocuous enough that I could get away with carrying it every day. And lastly, a Scrapyard Red with black contrasting logo would be awesome!

Re: There are no more Scrap Yard Knives. - 01/12/11 05:41 AM

Any color as long as one of them is black!

I think a pink one may sell well, my wife and daughter would both probably get one then as well.

And of course blaze orange, for the "where is it now" crowd.

Excellent post,Skunk Hunter, and a fine Reality Check as to what Dumpster Dan & the team go thru, daily.
I've been guilty of greed,being a latecomer.
And I'll try to curb that tendency.

But to answer Dumpster Dan about color?

1.Blaze Orange
2.Black.
3.Gray
4.Red
5.Mud Brown
6.Toxic green...see below*.

Mudder/SS4/more INFI.Or 154.

*And a Scrap Yard cross between a hatchet,a machete & a cleaver. At least 1/4" thick at the spine. At least 12" of blade;at least 4" from spine to business edge.No fancy hook or tip or point;just squared off.Something in the 3# class;strong enough to dig with. And a toxic green Mudder handle with a lanyard hole.

CG Scrapivore.... Sage, Gray, Desert Sand NEON YELLOW, NEON GREEN, NEON ORANGE AND PINK. I think you would be surprised how much pink stands out when you're "out there". PLUS, how many folks would be frightened by a PINK KNIFE! Think about it.

Just think of all the possible adverstisments. Richard Simmons weilding a DogFather saying "The Chopper for any occassion". It slices, it dices, it makes wood tremble! Now would you be frightened by that? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Since we are asking questions; What are the colors that Dogs would most want to see on their Scrapivore CG's

Dan
ORANGE!!!, Sage, Black, Muddy, Moss in that order

Also I think we need a Moss Dogfather and Moss Yardkeeper in the CG thickness not a fatty.

Orange seems more popular than I would have thought. I can't see me wearing a Orange Necker in public. But that's just me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I wear ALL my knives in public display. In Wisconsin it is the law! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

But now my Dear Messerhund let's talk about your second option.

Moss Green in a Dog Father configuration.

I'm going two very large thumbs up on that call! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

When the CG Dog Father is SELLING on E-Bay for $339.00 it is time for another round of Dog Father blades eh? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Dog Father sold for $129.95 THAT is price to performance ratio!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Another round of CGDF's boy howdy!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Peace.

if anything can bring me back into the knife market, it's a scrapyard khukri. sub $200.

That would be too sweet for words! Was thinking about this vs the parang we talked about awhile ago and I see a kukri as more versatile... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Second Round Of Combat Grade Dog Fathers. - 01/17/11 05:52 AM

Tom,next to your computer? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

$200.00 for a Desert Tan "rare" Dog Father is surely at the upper range anyone should be expected to pay. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

I'm all for the secondary market but when the profit rises to 3x the purchase price on Scrappers??

Nah, that's pushing it way to far. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

If anyone is entitled to that profit it's Dan. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

How about a chop off between those three while we wait? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Much to my chagrin,I don't make enough money to buy these on the secondary (or tertiary) market ...and NEVER see 'em for sale 'til they're gone....so if Dumpster Dan doesn't make more,I'm outta luck!

I think I have done a chop off between every darned chopper I own at one time or another. I plan on selling off some of them. The CG is just fine. Back in 2007 I stripped and sanded my DF. I wanted one in satin finish. I'm just not big on painted blades. Well about the time I finally got my DF looking pretty good, Dan brought out the DFLE. I loved it. It looked way better than my ghetto satin version, which I sold. In addition, the new DFLE had a full flat grind which lightened the blade and made it faster in the hand. As far as chopping goes, the original, with the heavier blade, is hard to beat.

A few years ago I would NEVER had dreams of any color but black.

And I have NO problem with that. At these prices for such high quality steel and a lifetime of the knife full no questions asked warranty I would not expect to much flair.

Being able to have a choice of colors on a blade used to be a no brainer issue.

Black. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Now having a palate of colors to suite your taste....unreal!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I just couldn't let the "Messer Hund" go. First link that came up in my Goggle search engine is the link below.

Who would have guessed it would involve a VERY large knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

It's a short clip 1:24 but it will put to rest the TRUE meaning of Messer Hund. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Ok,that was kind of strange. Kind of like When I was watching Japanese TV while stationed at Yokota AB in Japan. Might be a lot better if I could understand it, but Hey, I struggle with English!

Dave - the "Messer Hund" joke was in reference to when Jerry Busse inducted Jerry "Messer Hund" into the trough. Jerry Busse said "I think that means bratwurst or something like that". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I still like the Germanic Messer Hund with a very large knife.

Better than whining about never going to Blade.

Sigh..

POP. I just looked at your blogspot.com site. NOW i know why you say you will never see Blade. TO MANY KNIVES! Sell em, sell em all at 10 cents on the dollar (I might give you 12cents for some of them)!

Seriously, nice collection. You've got some SERIOUS steel there!
