BTW, does anyone else notice that faint Hamon line that shows up on the blade about two thirds of the way up? It may be nothing but it's there, it stands out slightly more in person. I dunno...looks to me like where the paint overlaps from spraying the spine, while trying to make the camo job look continuous. The primary reason is that in the light tan colored sections, it appears to be a concave edge-line, such as to reflect the start of an air-brush application (circle).

Can you see a true Hamon line through paint?

I actually got that SFNO LE in a trade. I'd wanted a regular SFNO for a long time, and I love the smooth hand finished handles on that one. It just didn't seem right to just let it sit unused and unloved, it was made to be used, even it it is a purty LE, so I decided that the best thing I could do is show it some love and use that baby! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Funny thing is that even though I really like it, I still like the NMSFNO a little better as a all around user, but the SFNO is still a great knife itself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Yea, you've got it right, the NMSFNO is roughly 2 inches longer and all the steel edges are rounded.

The NMSFNO is the Green and Tan in this pic.

While I really like the 6.5" Regulator, and it seems very practical, I just like the wicked Bowie looks of the original TT the best. But they are all fine knives.

I'm still waiting on mine -- USPS routed it from OH to PA for a delivery to IN (the opposite direction than it needed to go). The package will work its way to me, although not via the shortest path.

I love the look of that 6.5 SYKCO, now I'm even more disturbed with myself for screwing up on the ganza.

Around here, within 45 miles there are 4 indoor flea markets. Three that we frequent quite often. Of the three ONE is sort of a LITTLE messy, but not objectionable at all. The other two are really nice and clean and kept up well.

I think, without actually having in in my hand that this will be my favorite NORMAL using blade. Now for bigger stuff I will naturally fall back to my SOD or DF! OR maybe the Milreg depending upon exactly WHAT I am doing.

Now If I was to go Hog hunting with a knife, the MilReg, hands down! BUT I might have the 6.5 as a backup just in case!

Skunk...the balance is where the handle and blade meet. Feels faster in the hand for me. Keep in mind I haven't really used it yet...so this is all preliminary.

I figured that might be the balance point. Kind of neutral feeling. Make for a faster blade than the Milreg. IF Dan was making it a pure fighter type the balance point just at the back side of the guard would probably make it a killer quick blade.

Very nice. I would love to have a green handle one but I doubt I will ever get the chance for one. Sure wish I could have made that ganza but I was at a wrestling dual. Arghhhhhhh, dag-nabit.

My only gripe (if I can even call it that?) about the Mil-Reg as a fighter is being such a thick blade, it's actually spine heavy (strange, I know). In my experience, a blade heavy knife tends to force you to commit to the swing when employed as a fighter, whereas a light thin blade doesn't pull your arm with it. The blade heaviness is easy enough to compensate for, though, it becomes a matter of follow through, circular motions like Kung Fu teaches you to do. I find that blades that balance nearer the butt of the knife, the balance centered on my palm, feel lightest and fastest in the hand, but they don't have the same security when using them to defend against a strike. Handle heavy pivots easily while blade heavy weilds more like a sharpened club.

I am interested, purely academically, how the shorter Regs handle as a fighter.

Being spine heavy, the Dereg is more difficult for me to twirl in my hand, the mass and where it balances slows the rotation significantly. It has proven very difficult, and sometimes painful, to twirl my Dereg a full 360`. I think because of the blade length being a bit longer than my YardHook, it is still easier to twirl than the YH is. The blade catch sometimes catches my palm and flips the cutting edge toward my arm, and the recurved edged is downright NASTY when it clips me.

The scratches make it even more beautiful.

It's certainly better than "sterile" though. I prefer that all my Busse Kin knives have a logo on them, although I have several older "sterile" Scrappers and even a few Busse's, and they're fine, but I'd just prefer some kind of logo whenever possible. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, I got a 6.5 Regulator in the mail from a fellow dog here. I love the feel in hand, and the camo blade is tops too. Thanks again for hooking me up!

I was just stroking my 6.5 on the ceramic hone and got it sharp enough to slice through some thin and not to sturdy note pad paper. As I was fondling er ah I mean honeing it on the notepad cardboard cover I ran my finger along the spine, from the handle all the way to the tip.

I noticed that there were two HUMPS there! One was just forward of the SYKCO logo mark and the other one was right at 2 inches back from the tip. If you hold the blade flat and look along the spine just right, you can see them. They are not very prominent but they are there. Kind of a two step process to get a long swedge that isn't sharpened. Pretty neat if you ask me, I really like it and think it adds something.

Also if you take a two finger grip on the butt of the handle, it feels like it should make a pretty fair chopper as well!

In my opinion, and it is ONLY mine, I have the following thoughts.

The 6.5 Reg is a Beast of a knife as Jeff so aptly named it. The blade thickness will be proven to be even more resistant to damage because of it's shorter than the Milreg length. It IS NOT a fighter, although it can serve that purpose. It is a COMBAT/SURVIVAL knife without equal. Most uses a military member or a person depending upon it for their survival will put a blade to is not protection/removal, but mundane ABUSIVE tasks.

Prying open crates, doors, windows, digging holes in all sorts of objects. Chopping wood of all types, building materials and trees. Preparing animals for the fire and into bite sized pieces. It needs to be light (but not to light that its integrity, it's toughness could be questioned) so that it will be carried and available when needed. If it is to large or to heavy, guess where it very well could be when it was needed to say cut a firing port into an adobe or hollow brick wall or defend against the chance meeting with an animal that has larger, stronger teeth and claws.

This knife, the SYKCO BEAST is such a knife. It's thickness will foster confidence, confidence that no matter what it is called on to do, it will accomplish the task and laugh telling you it was built for more.

The knife is a weapon, sure. But it is first and foremost a TOOL, a tool that can be used for good or evil. The weilder is the decision maker, the knife is made to only cut and pierce, and in the case of the Scrapyard SYKCO BEAST, to pry open that bank vault door to save those trapped inside by the ones who intend only harm to the masses, those gentle souls, those unable because of age or frailty to protect themselves.

I salute you Scrapyard Knives for bringing such a blade, such a tool to those of us who may one day need them for just such tasks. And also for giving those of us who DO NOT go in harms way to enjoy this most crucial tool.

While I love the Reg handle, I had to pass on the disproportionately small blade. I thought the Reg blade was too small for the handle. Here's hoping the Cupidganzaa will bring some Miloverrun 9-10 inch Magnum Regulators.

I LOVE the colors of the Short Regs.

Personally I wish the 6.5 had a slightly oversized Mudder grip on it. My hands are not overly large, just sort average but fat.

I eagerly await the arrival of an oversized mudder grip.

I think that the 6.5 and the Milreg handle is that way to ensure it can be used hour after hour without producing problems, hotspots and blisters in the using hand. Now it will NOT fit every hand, that is an impossibility. EVERY handle put on a knive, except for those done one at a time by a handle maker, but that particular person will always be a compromise. No way around it. All ANY manufacturer can do is try and fit the most people as comfortably as possible.

The Reg handle is definately the most comfortable I've ever handled, but I like big blades.

I do as well. But at the same time, when I am jsut out walking around and not on a specific mission, I would be MUCH more prone to carry the 6.5 instead of a 12 inch mega chopper on my side.

You just get off or up early. Oh and the Super bowl two words. GO JETS!

Now don't get me wrong, I carry a CS Kukri Machete in the jeep. But the jeep is where is stays unless I need it. It is GREAT for clearing out light brush and vines, cattails and such. But I would still want something strapped to my belt for the times that I didn't need the longer blade. I mean Heck I may have to dispatch that attacking snapping turtle!

Not that I even tried at this Ganzaa but you that is what kills me about them. A few people buy up the knives to flip. I don't mind if someone goes to a show or gets them off the website and flips for a profit but the Ganzaa flippers are different. I suppose it is what it is and I won't complain too much.

secondary prices help maintain the brand name. it's a good evil because it allows the Busse clan to empty the warehouse and keep bringing new designs. also adds instant for collectors.

Wow!!! I think everyone around here knows how much I like the Regulators, especially the full flat grinds. Wasn't sure how I would like the shorter blade (I think like many the Reg handle deserves a larger blade) but let me say this is one sweet knife. Full review coming but let me mention one thing I haven't seen anyone else talk about. I love the deep full round choil!

I like it too. I had forgotten the LE just had a flat spot, and the Mil-Reg had a half round. They all work but That full round feels real good.

I too love the round choil. I have one of each style and the rounded one is the most comfortable.
