Just paid for a CRK Sebby21. A folding sleep mate (I have inflatables but am experimenting). Some silicon "gun socks" for all the rifles along the "back row" of my safe that don't get fished out often enough

Not much here. I've managed to avoid ordering any of these "operation 2 weeks" offerings. The only thing I have on order is a custom shop RMD that I ordered before operation 2 weeks began. I almost ordered the MS ergo, then I chickened out.

I caught the scope bug back in November and been buying stuff since.

SWFA SS 1-4x24
IOR 4x32
Meopta Artemis 2000 4x32
Vortex Viper HSLR 2.5-10x32 (x2)

I found a 30mm Warne RAMP mount and stuck a Viper on my SCAR. I will sooner or later get a Anschutz RX22 so the other Viper goes on it. Just waiting on the RX22 to go back on sale.

I ended up getting a CTK Precision rifle rest and Wheeler scope mounting kit to do a better job on mounting scopes and sighting everything in. I'm not happy with the CTK for the price but it works.

I ordered a FNH TSR in .300 wsm that will be here late February. I will be putting my Swarovski Z6 2.5-15x56 on it. At half the price of the CZ UHR I had planned to get I think I will be just as happy with it. I was looking to ding my "sniper rifle" fantasy and still end up with a more than capable hunting rifle. I wasn't stuck on any caliber but I like .300 sizes and wanted something with more reach and smack than .308. My cousin bought a Sako in .300 ask last year so I figured we could swap ammo until we find what works best. This caliber might actually lead to me reloading at some point.

I will be picking up a Yugo SKS and five Tapco 20 round mags any day now. It was fairly cheap and I like the 7.62x39 round but won't hunt like my CZ527 and its not as mean as my SLR-101 so it may be a project gun or just a plinker. I have a Russian Vomz 8x56 scope I may stick on it and call it a "boar sniper" or something lol.

I picked up a S30V Kershaw Blur to replace the S60V Blur that a guy dropped in the reservoir a year or so ago. It cuts but this is the dullest Kershaw knife I have ever gotten.

The last month or so I have been upgrading my hunting clothes. I found some nice deals on Amazon. Ended up with a 5.11 Taclite pro pants and shirt in Realtree. Nice but velcro sucks for hunting gear so I will be removing some of it. I also found a nice quality fleece jacket, rain proof windbreaker, and lightweight ripstop pullover all in Realtree.

I have been on a rainy day hunting gear kick since I got rained out on a trip last year. I bought and returned a bunch of rain gear that was all way too big and way too noisy for any sort of hunting. I finally found a set of Helly Hanson Impertech bibs on Cabela's website for $20. And wouldn't you know I go on a hunting trip and it rained the whole day... But the weather I checked before I left was 2.5 hours north of where I hunt where it was bone dry so I left them at home. Luckily the 5.11 pants and pullover did okay and I found enough cover to hunt the whole day on the rain.

Thank you everyone for the congrats. Two of the biggest selling points on this new house (for me at least) is that my back yard literally backs up to 27,000 acres of a National Wildlife Refuge and my property has a freshwater spring on it.

I just ordered a Radical Firearms AR in 7.62x39.

For $500 it's already setup the way I want it for most part. I was planning on going with a PSA upper and lower but factor in the cost of the changes I would have to make and the RF rifle is the better deal.

My plan for now is to a SWFA 1-4x24 on it and see how it stacks up against my CZ527 as a hunting rifle.

Got a single mag carrier for my PX4 Saturday. Actually pretty neat. It's one piece of Kydex folded over and shaped (skeletonized). I will try and get up a pic in the next day or two. I think it's a pretty good deal for $15.00. It's thick Kydex so it should last.

A co-worker has a Radical in 458 SOCOM. It wish works 100% with quality ammo.

You'll probably like the Sig's accuracy. Every one I've owned has been accurate. They've all been 100% reliable except 40SW P229 when they first arrived on the market.

The BWM is a really nice blade Gary. I have had one for a few years now and it is perhaps the best chopper I have after the 1311. When I got mine the "Grooves" in the handle were kinda sharp, but they wear down pretty quick into just enhancing the gripability.

This will be my first TINFI chopper. All other INFI choppers have been 0.25" to 0.3+ (I had a FAT NMFSH that was a BEAST). I've been more interested in thinner blades lately, and the deal and timing were right.

I've had quite a few 10/22 over the years. Everything from the plain blued / birch stock models to stainless factory spiral fluted "Target" models to Charger pistols to the new Take-Down model (and everything in between).

I wouldn't be without a 10/22. In fact, my stainless Take-Down with Tech-Sights would be one of the very last guns I'd let go. People on the internet talk about accuracy, but I've come to question: A) their shooting abilities; B) the accuracy of their STATEMENTS; C) the variables involved; D) the truthfulness of their statements.

The 10/22 has a reputation as not being accurate. I suspect this depends on your definition of "accurate". I can flip an empty 12 gauge shotgun shell around at 25-30 yards while standing, supporting my 10/22 TD with OPEN SIGHTS against a wood column (supports the roof over the shooting station at my range) all day any day. This to me is more than adequate accuracy for an open sighted $300 rifle shooting 15 year old "Federal Bulk Pack" ammo from Wal-Mart. I think if I tested quality ammo and found a load the rifle liked it would be exceedingly accurate.

I'm not a benchrest shooter.

The aftermarket support for the rifle is amazing. You can replace every part on it with something else.

They're reliable. I've had some with untold round counts still run. They'll fail occasionally, but its nothing catastrophic (failure to load or similarly non-issue).

Overall, a well equipped stainless 10/22 is a "must have" as far as I'm concerned.

By "well equipped" I mean:

1) Sling
2) Improved Sighting (either a quality scope or open sights like Williams or Tech-Sights)
3) Plenty of mags and ammo.

I bought a couple of KaBar / Becker Tweener BK16 to test as detail knives.

They feel great in the hand (balance, weight, handle ergonomics, etc) and came with a serviceable sheath. My concern will be edge retention. I am not, however, concerned with strength as I view this as a companion knife.

Have heard some good things about them. I wouldn't be to concerned about the strength either. Edge retention may not be as good as you are used to (Compared to Bussekin of course) but should be good. Besides personally, I would rather a blade be on the kind of softer side. Will "Give more instead of breaking (USUALLY) and easier to sharpen if you find yourself surrounded by nothing but rocks. If I had one I certainly wouldn't feel I had an unreliable product.

The edge retention on my BK 15 has been good. But, I have no problem with 1095 in general and find it holds up well. Seem to remember some micro chipping on an izula but that's about it.

Saturday I Went across the river. Yes Dogs I ventured into the Liberal Mecca of ILLINOIS! I know, I know, I felt totally naked without my "Hogs Leg" but I had no choice. Needless to say I extended my radar and paid more attention to conversations and braved the horde. The place I went to was a flea market that is only open on Sat and Sun. There is one "Room" that has some LIMITED Military Surplus items. I went there specifically looking for something.

The Foray was productive though. It netted me a Vietnam era poncho. NOT the extremely heavy rubber covered green one but the lighter weight (the kind I had before) jungle camo version. I checked it over real good and as best as I can determine it is still all intact. IF there are any small areas that are leaking I can always buy a bottle of silicone they make for light weight tents and tarps. They also have liners but I didn't get one this time. That I will save for another day.

MSM Adapt Pack was backordered... Said they had 2 in stock when I ordered.

I did some shopping around and I don't think I'm going to find a pack that gets as close to what I want as that pack. I screwed around and cancelled the order but I'm thinking I should've just left it alone and waited it out. The other colors I might want are backorder for up to a couple months. And this particular site has the best price I've seen @ $86.

I've been wanting a decent edc pack for years now. I guess waiting a couple weeks wouldn't have matter that much.

I ordered some Red Kap ripstop shirts (SY60). I prefer a button up over a polo style shirt when it gets warmer out. The ripstop material may be too hot for summer wear here though. At $10 I figure I'll give then a try and if not for summer they will be fine to wear come the fall.

I've pick up quite few tactical shirts lately. Bought a few 5.11, some BlackHawk, and will probably snag a few Vertx shirts soon. I keep finding them heavily discounted here and there so I figure I should check them out. Some of them are fine everyday shirts that will last for a long long time but some are way over the top tactically and way too heavy material and build wise. They just wouldn't work well down here in the south. I guess maybe 2 to 3 months out of the year like my jackets. But really not my sort of thing...I probably will end up talking about them in the "sold" thread at some point.

That is how I try and buy everything, If I can't flip it for at least what I paid I tend not to go for it.

If I used your (outstanding, btw) philosophy my safe would be empty. I'm particular about the quality of kit I have, but am willing to spend whatever it takes to obtain whatever it is I think is the best at that particular moment.

I didn't buy it, (gifted by a really good dog) Streamlight Sidewinder compact cr123 light. I LOVE that thing. If I keep using it the way I have I'll have to buy a new battery in a week or so!

Getting a Maxped Malaga, a bag to make another personal "Kit" based upon Gary's load out. TWO maxped CCW holster platforms.

Just ordered a Anshcutz RX22 which is a .22lr SCAR clone. I was waiting for them to go back on sale and they did last night. I'll be setting it up with the same mount and scope as my SCAR 17 and I'll call it a "training rifle". Really it's just a excuse to buy a cool looking tactical .22 rifle lol...

I'm also leaning towards getting a S&W M&P 22 compact since the full-size M&P 9 is my go-to pistol. Again it's just for "training" purposes lol...

The gaps are not even close to even if you are looking at where the recoil spring assembly is in the slide to where it's cut out in the from to go. The front sight top has a slight angle to it so it's not parallel to the top of the rear sight. Very distracting.
Honestly I'm considering calling STI over some of the things.

That's a bummer man I hope they make it right for you.

Haha yeah I'm going to contact STI when I get a chance. My buddy sent a picture and his STI DVC doesn't have the left right issue but it does the the large gap at the bottom. It came from STI in a sealed bag so I didn't get to open it till I had paid. The shop had one more on the shelf but of course I wouldn't have been able to tell sealed in the dry bag.

Hopefully they'll get you squared away (to your satisfaction) quickly.

I'm not a "fit and finish" guy, but certain guns are designed to be flash and should deliver based upon their price tag!

Can't argue with your choices here! I have G triggers in both of my LWRC, and LaRue mounts on every optic I own (except the Leupold on my 10/22).

I have no experience with the MRO, but have been intrigued by it. Please post some initial and post-use reviews.

GD's WML purchase prompted me to try another high lumen option. I bought SureFire M600U.

I plan on conducting tests with my:

SureFire M300A (KX1A)
SureFire M600A (KL4)
SureFire M600C (KX2C)
SureFire M600AA (KE1C)
SureFire M600U (KE2A)

I'd like to test their:

* Room filling ability;
* Distance throw;
* Target ID up to 250 yards;
* Battery life;

I should know better but I stopped by my FFL yesterday and of course I couldn't walk out empty handed sooooo.

Ignore the stock it is just a beater I have laying around and needed something. The uppper is what I bought it is an 20inch bull barrel 5.56 1/8 twist rifle length gas system full floated. I have wanted one to eliminate little brown creatures out west. I am still waiting for the BCG and charging handle.

Can't remember if I mentioned this. Bought a spare LWRC upper over the weekend. I'm down to two complete LWRC rifles so I wanted to have a complete spare upper. I have virtually every lower part in my parts bin so all I needed was the upper half.

SF means "Short Frame". This is somewhat of a misnomer, because the frame is the same HEIGHT and WIDTH but the DEPTH (backstrap to front strap) is reduced.

The SF frame is SLIGHTLY "shorter" (based upon Glock's description above) than the Gen 4 without an added backstrap. Some people claim they're the same, but the caliper states otherwise.

I got a couple lighters and emergency ponchos today to go in the Organizer and the malaga. Slowly but surely.

Oh and I got my Water bottle carrier and small utility pouch along with a molle adapter for a knife sheath.

I've got the water bottle carrier already mounted on one side of the malaga and the utility pouch on the other. It is housing my Pyromaniac supplies. It's got a DT antler crown tipped Ferro rod, magnesium rod and striker along with 5 wet tinder tabs and a small candle in a tin about 2 inches across.

Oh yeah and a DT PJCB w/magnesium flakes in an aluminum capsule.

I make anti-DI jokes a lot, but I'm still a HUGE fan of BCM and Colt DI carbines. Randy's Carbine is an example of a gun I wouldn't hesitate to run out the door with.

Went to Wally World Monday to get some groceries and Patty some new blouses for our trip and to get some shoe laces that broke on my Rockport boots. While there Patty said I should get another pair of boots, so I got a pair of Ozark Trails Hikers. Pretty light weight and feel really good. I know they aren't HIGH Quality boots, but I hope they will work. I've got some other Ozark Trails gear and it has done pretty good. As I have said in other threads, we shall see.

I've owned a couple of pair of Ozark boots. They were better than I expected from WalMart. IIRC, they lasted quite a while but weren't quite as comfortable as boots that cost 2 or 3 times more (as to be expected). I also remember them causing my feet to sweat. However, I think I wore them for a long time. I've not had as good of luck with Target's store brand.

I really like ALTAMA brand when they can be found on clearance. The problem is they have to be ordered online so you won't know how they fit or feel until they arrive. Return shipping can negate any "savings".

About to buy another camera... my DSLR is just to big for when I am hunting etc from a pack and the present waterproof/shockproof Pentax I have is too inconsistent. Soooo a factory refurbished Nikon 1 V1 is looking good. And as I head overseas in a few weeks (working [censored] it) I can claim back the local 10% GST at the airport on the way out.

But yup, it's one of those things like a "big knife" or concealled carry pistol. Folks find out about it and imagine the bad stuff that can be done with it. In reality it's just tools and a skill set like anything else. I was on the fence about it myself until I decided it's something I want for myself just like making fires or tying knots. After watching some videos it honestly is a bit of a scary thing to realize the false sense of security we have when it comes to things we depend on locks for. But like most things once you become educated on the subject it becomes less scary and you can find real ways to protect yourself as well as become more self sufficient.

I doubt I will tell many people that it is a skill I am working on but I thought you guys might appreciate the idea of it. The idea actually came to me when I was watching some video of edc bag contents. At least two different guys had lock pick sets in their packs. After that I spent a couple weeks watching videos and decided it's a skill I wanted to invest in.

As for which kits, I went with the whole training kit from Sparrows because it came with some nice practice locks. Practice is the key

at first I thought it would be a bit too much because it's a pretty thick holster. I like it! It doesn't "disappear" but for carrying all day I think it will be comfortable.

I have this same one in a 40oz and It is just as good as a yeti. Walmart has them for about 17bucks. I have dropped mine several times and it now has dings and scratches and the plastic top is scuffed as well, but nothing on it is broken. I highly recommend them.

At some point, black is black. I don't think I'd pay $55 for a flash hider, but I would pay $25

I've never bought a Vortex due to the cost, but have bought a few rifles that had one installed. I googled it, and they're currently $52-60 which seems ridiculous in this age of $400 complete AR-15s.

The reason I posted the info on the Vortex is because the Rook looks like a similar design and the price was very reasonable. I like the fact it looks like it could be used as a bayonet if needed

Hmmm... I'm now curious what the heck I was thinking of. I THOUGHT Smith had been forced to stop production. Too close to a patent infringement. Maybe they worked it out, or maybe Smith was doing the suing.

The Rook IS a little pointier, though not nearly as bad as some of the $20 tacticool models out there. I'm sure it could split a sternum in a pinch. I suspect most of these thicker 3-4 prong hiders do a decent job, but can only personally speak for the Rook. Much better than the A2 and other hiders I looked at... though if it's much more than $25, I'd think the A2 would meet most people's needs. Not that sexy, but dang effective.

Randy, you can see the flash at night of standing next to it, and MAYBE if you were standing downrange and LOOKING, buy doubtful. Either way it won't blind you at night. The A2 is a solid (ace dirt cheap) device. There's a reason the military uses it.

I should REALLY finish and post my test.... it's all about devices under $50.

The A2 is pretty effective as a flash suppressor and compensator.

I was in a multi-day carbine class once where everyone except me (and one other fool) were using AR-15s. Nearly all of those AR's had A2's on them.

On the second day of training the ground had been pounded into a fine powder. During the prone exercises, every time I fired my AK-101 (5.56 version of a AK-74) that AK-74 brake kicked up so much dust I couldn't see the target for a good moment between shots. Then the wind changed and started blowing the dust in my face. It combined with my sweat to create several rivulets of mud running into my eyes.

The guys on either side of me were shooting ARs with A2 compensators and were not kicking up much dust.

As most military fire comes from a prone position ... the A2 is a good compromise between reducing muzzle flash and keeping debris out of your FOV.

Here are some general observations about "muzzle devices" ...

1) Dedicated "muzzle brakes" seem to intensify muzzle flash. This isn't actually the case, but instead of a "linear" fire ball shooting down range, MBs tend to cause the flash to be more "spherical" about the muzzle device. That is to say, they tend to be more in your FOV.

2) "Three Prong" dedicated flash suppressors are the usually the best design. The M16 originally had a 3-prong. The government closed the end to prevent getting the muzzle stuck in vegetation and to stop GI's from using the prongs as a leverage while prying with their rifles. As mentioned before, the Smith Vortex is the most effective device I've used.

NOTE ON SMITH VORTEX: The Vortex is "tuned". That is to say, if you "flick" one of the three prongs it will sing like a tuning fork. It is my unsubstantiated belief that this "effect" disrupts the flash through some sort of sonic fairy-dust magic.

3) Combined "flash suppressor / compensators" range from "I suck at both" to "I'm pretty okay at both" but are never "great" at both. The A2 is good at both.

4) Muzzle devices range from about $5 to $300. Yes, $300. The over rated KAC MAMs is $302.35.

The most I've personally spent was about $125 during the $1500 Colt AR days. In today's weird depressed gun market I wouldn't spend more than $25-35 unless I needed a specialized muzzle device for sound-suppressor mounting.

Most of the "high end" devices I've owned came on a gun or upper that I bought. That typical situation where all of the custom parts you've added to a gun or upper are basically worthless on the resale market so the next guy benefits. I've been the beneficiary several times and the guy on the losing end countless times.

5) Some other devices that I have personal positive experience:

A2 ... $5 and works.

BCM Gunfighter MOD 0 Compensator ... this actually manages to work like a FH and Compensator. It should work because its basically a slightly modified A2 and costs $90!

BCM Gunfighter MOD 1 Comp ... this is an elongated MOD 0. Works better and costs more.

KAC NT4 ... this is basially a tuned A2 that costs $128 but allows you to quick connect a dedicated sound suppressor

Phantom A2 (first generation with the scalloped end ... second generation sucked) ... at $20-25 (nowadays) this is a nice "inexpensive" MD.

I just returned from my FFL's shop ... picked up my new Tikka T3X Stainless Lite in 308 Win. The Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40mm CDS and DNZ mount arrived last night. Hoping this rig shoots as well as everyone claims. I'd like to try it on whitetail.

Very nice combo. I picked up the 340 to carry while running and for around the house chores like working on cars and mowing the lawn. I started carrying it to my work since I don’t often stop going to or coming home. Makes a nice little BUG as well but is a handful with the Barnes and Sig defense ammo.

OK, I've changed my mind (my old one was getting rusty what with not getting used at a certain knife website.

So I have been on a sword kick lately and have, I think, found my grail. I have wanted a "Samurai" sword since I was about 10 years old. That would make it 56 years come the 22nd. I have had a couple wall hangers, and I DO have a real WWII "Liberated" Wakizashi". But I have been wanting a "Real" blade or blades. Not that I will actually use them (I HOPE), but if a knife or sword can not be used I don't really have any interest in them. That's just me. There are thousands of swords and knives out there that are beautiful. Some WAY to expensive for this Southeast Missouri Redneck and some just decorative wall hangers. They ARE pretty but just aren't my cup of tea (homage to our new pretend British Law man Endeavour Morse.

I have been on a Sword search lately and finally found what I want to get. The first is called a KO-Katana (correctly called an O-Wakizashi) that has a 24 inch blade with a full size 11 inch Tsuka (handle). The second is a 9 inch bladed Tanto. They are touted as being suitable for fairly heavy cutting (backyard stuff) and Dojo practice, so they should be pretty robust blades. Several reviews have said they are very sturdy and capable blades. SO it looks as if my CRKT Kangee T-hawk will have to wait. I am NOT heartbroken about this. BUT I will have to wait until late March as I won't start getting my Gummit check until the Third week in March (they pay a month behind don'tchaknow).

Only swords that have traditionally interested me have been Viking and Templar (perhaps Medieval).

The various "Asian inspired" offerings by Busse have not really appealed to me. I did get one in a $500 grab bag (SR Rucki), but I quickly sold it. If the Busse team would offer a SR101 Viking sword ... I'd buy it. Like you ... I don't want anything that I can't use (however unlikely I am to actually use it ... no wall hanger for me).

One of the highest rated (Fighting Sword) deadly swords is the Gladius. The Romans slaughtered thousands if not millions with that blade. MANY highly regarded experts claim it to be the most deadly close combat blade there is. You have to admit it was rather successful. But My desire is one of the Eyes and maybe heart. I, as I have said have wanted a "Japanese" sword, and not a wall hanger one, for over 50 years. No rhyme or reason to it, I just like them.

That makes sense. If the AK47 was 20-22" I may be tempted. Again, I don't like asian inspired designs. However, I'd trade length for durability but that's just me. Past the reach of a short sword ... you're better off running (or rolling away in your case )

I think that a 9260 spring steel would be excellent for a Japanese style fighting sword. Most Busse blades are shorter and thicker than a fighting sword and more oriented toward chopping wood and camp chores. How difficult is it for a blade to cut flesh?

Thanks Guys. Both Y'all brought out thinks I had thought of but it is good to here our own thoughts echoed by others. I will have to look more into that 9260 steel.

YEAH, I had considered the AK47 and WOULD like one, but I have two already in the 17-18 inch length and as I said just want something with a bit more reach. And Yeah they will I almost guarantee will be nothing more than "Wall Hangers" but they will be wall hangers that are capable of biting, HARD. And Iike I said I want a bit more reach. I PREFER the 21 inch length but the 24 had me intrigued. I DO have a 24 inch sword (Leaf spring steel) that is actually just ground from a leaf spring, but it has ONLY the heat treat and temper the original spring came with and I bought it in the Philippines WAY back in 1975, you know when Dinosaurs still roamed the earth. Needless to say it won't hold much of an edge, about like my Negrito Hunting Bolo.

Ray, My appreciation of Busse steel is largely because of my experiences with their edge holding ability vs durability. Any blade that can cut down a tree can slice through flesh.

I have no quarrel with Busse steel. After all, I do have a few. I have never touched a Busse AK47 so I don’t know its handling characteristics. The blade length is quite short though. My Busse HOGFSH, while an excellent piece of steel, is not as agile as my katana or Wakizashi. And doesn’t have the reach of either. Different missions, different blades.

In case Y'all haven't figured it out my reasons for wanting a Japanese style blade follows:

1. I like the way they look
2. I have wanted one for over 50 years and have had a few, wall hangers, not counting my real WWII Wakizashi or my Honshu.
3. I DO NOT like OWNING Wall Hangers in ANY kind of bladed instrument.
4. To use against "Bad Guy" in the event a gun can not be utilized (when we Vacation it will be going with us) and It is "Do or Die".
5. Look neat on display at home, that is why I want a larger and smaller blade.

I haven't even held a Busse AK47, but did own a Swamp Rat Rucki. That sword ... agh long knife .... urm ... thing was sort of useless for my needs. I don't image the 18.5" blade would have made much difference.

I pay more than my share ... and it makes me sick. I keep thinking when I'm old enough to draw SS they're going to change the system to a "needs based" wherein those of us that saved / invested / sacrificed for our retirement wouldn't get social security but those who were lazy / foolish / didn't save anything will get social security. I've been paying social security taxes since 1984. They better pay out when I get to 62.

I was born after 1960 so I fall into the 67 year old "full benefit" scheme ...

If you were born in 1960 your full retirement age is 67

Remember, the earliest a person can start receiving Social Security retirement benefits will remain age 62.

If you start receiving retirement benefits at:

age 62, you will get 70 percent of the monthly benefit because you will be getting benefits for an additional 60 months.
age 65, you will get 86.7 percent of the monthly benefit because you will be getting benefits for an additional 24 months.

If you start receiving benefits as a spouse at your full retirement age, you will get 50 percent of the monthly benefit your spouse would receive if their benefits started at full retirement age. If you start receiving benefits at:

age 62, you will get 32.5 percent of the monthly benefit instead of 50 percent because you will be getting benefits for an additional 60 months.
age 65, you will get 41.7 percent of the monthly benefit instead of 50 percent because you will be getting benefits for an additional 24 months.

My wife is in the investment industry and she can't figure out what my benefit will be since I'm going to take "early retirement" (that is to say I will NOT be working into my 60's ... I will be retiring in my early 50s). As a result, even BIG NAME INVESTMENT CORPORATION software has a hard time calculating what my benefit will be. As a result, we've calculated the LOWEST possible benefit and then cut it half as part of our retirement planning.

There is nothing wrong with a wall hanger sword. Sort of a placeholder for when you get the real thing. I have a wall hanger Claymore to honor my Scottish ancestry but did not want to pay the price for a real good one. Also to honor my Scottish ancestry.

Haha, Actually I don't blame Ray at all. GOOD coffee is a pleasure. I have only had GOOD coffee a few times. While I was in Japan (We won't talk about how much it cost) and once in Hawaii, actually in Kona. Reckon you can figure out what kind of coffee that was.

Wow to bad that rifle is probably out of my price range.

She loves rimfire and never has really liked how my MKIII hunter handled. The small safety, long heavy barrel, and strange sights were never her favorite. She wants to learn a red dot so that narrowed the field on pistols we could get and the easy take down and improvements on the MK4 22/45 fit the bill. We are going to TN in may hiking so she wants to get her CCW this time and so this will allow her to practice up cheaper than .380 or 9mm

Storage of green beans in a cool, dry area is necessary. Opinions vary on storage length. The consensus is 2 years for peak flavor. Other people on my coffee forum have used beans that were up to 7 years old with no change in flavor. One guy said he found a bag in the back of the drawer that was 16 years old and still tasted good. Personally, I have roasted 4 year old beans that I thought had not lost any flavor. I like to rest roasted beans for a minimum of 3 days after roasting. Then I make a cup every day until I decide that it is almost at peak flavor. Then the beans go into an airtight container and then into the freezer. I have not really noted how long they stay in the freezer because they are used every day until they are gone. I don’t store them for a month and then start using them.
Coffee drinkers are much like wine drinkers. Some people can taste all the notes in a wine and can tell the difference between various vintages and wineries. I never could do that. One wine tasted much like another one. But I CAN do that with coffee. I also think that the cheapest coffee that I roast is better than any from the various chains in my area. I go to coffee shops about once a year and sample their regular coffee and espresso and compare them to mine. Also, any ground coffee from a store is far down the list as far as taste goes. Pod coffee is further down the list. I do try ground coffee occasionally and I have a Lilly capsule machine that I use when I am in a hurry.
Coffee consumption is like any other food or drink consumption. Some people know and appreciate the subtle differences and some people don’t. No point in roasting your own beans and knowing the difference between South American and African beans if you can’t discern the difference in flavor. I don’t criticize people for liking Folger’s or Keurig (except for Randy but that doesn’t count. Randy is such a soft target). My wife goes to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts everyday on her way to work. I make a latte for her on the weekends. A while ago she said I spoiled her because my coffee tastes so much better than her usual. But I have refused to get up early every day to make her coffee.

Yeah Tom... It's chambered in 6.5Grendel and showing pretty good potential so far. Mostly put it together as a slim and lightweight general purpose carbine that kinda fills the role of a Winchester 94/Marlin 336. I'm really going to have to put it through its paces once things settle down a bit and I can do some loading. Barnes just released a 115gr Tac-X bullet for the Grendel, so I'll be checking those bullets out as a hunting option for use here in occupied territory.

Ha Ha, yeah, it's the angle of the pic and because it's so slim overall. The balance with this 20" barrel is right in front of the magwell (Like carrying a Win94 by the action). Here's another angle that isn't as extreme...

I ordered some US made Elite Survival Systems Cobra buckle outrigger belts for $10. The buckles alone run +$30. The problem is that they are all size small and I'm a size large. For my purposes these belts are not going through my belt loops. I'm hoping I can just link two belts together and use them that way. If not I will just pull the stitching and do some sort of a hack job to make my own belts. I'm not necessarily looking for a battle belt but I guess I'm headed that direction.

What's cool is that 4 of the 5 belts I bought have outrigger buckles that have a heavy duty d-ring built in. I went ahead and bought all 4 because that d-ring might be useful for tree straps when out hunting. Or I might just hack em... The fifth belt is grey without the d-ring and will definitely be getting hacked into an edc belt.

The little small symbols and writing you see an each buckle is the load ratings. So these buckles are rated for climbing to some extent. They are not supposed to be used for fall protection though.

OK NOW for the Baked Beans

DEBBIE'S TEXAS STYLE BAKED BEANS (Patty's sister Debbie died in 2002 of Cancer)

2 pounds bacon.
4 pounds ground beef (browned)
4 LARGE cans baked beans
** We just use half the ground beef and half the beans)
4 Beef bouillon cubes
1 1/2 cups (HOT tap water works best)
1 Tblsp mustard
1 jar hot and spicy BBQ sauce
Minced onions and garlic along with salt and pepper to taste

Fry the bacon until crisp. Dice it up and set aside for later
Mix the ground beef (drained) BBQ sauce and beans and mix thoroughly.

Dissolve the bouillon cubes in the water, and when completely dissolved add to the hamburger mixture
Add the mustard, onions and garlic and add the diced/crumbled bacon over the top and stir until well mixed.

Put in a large pot on the stove on low heat, or a Crock Pot and heat up for about 30 minutes so all the flavors will have time to come together. Spoon into a bowl and enjoy.

I'm still rocking the old IPad 2. All I do is browse the web and watch YouTube with it so until it can't do that any more then there won't be any upgrades there.

I do sort of wish I had gotten a laptop that can double as a tablet but ended up buying a Dell gaming laptop. It works but,

I got in on the Olight flash sale. Picked up the PL Mini 2 Valkyrie and a i5T. I like the quick detach feature on the weapon light and will probably try it on my M&P compact. The smaller light may replace my Surefire E1L.

It was an impulse buy. I've always wanted one so when some recently showed up I bit. I like certain older smaller pistols chambered in 32 acp for some reason. Pistols like the PPK and 1903 always get my attention. There's was even a FN 1900 that I bought at a gun show a while back. I had never even seen one before but when I realized the appearance of the FN 57 was based on it I grabbed it. It was an odd little gun that I was never going to shoot lol. I eventually admitted that I really wanted a 1903 or a CZ82/83 so I sold it.

I passed on the Beretta 81 pistols that popped up a few months ago. I'm not really into Berettas but I think if some more of those pop up I would consider one.

My brother in CZ fandom!

I think I paid about that for my 10-22 TD. The one I got is stainless with a camo stock and flash hider. At the time I felt it was a deal I shouldn't pass on. A quick search shows $350 for a TD.

And like PK said, the basic 10-22 runs $200 before tax and shipping.

It was common to have a 7 day set. You used them Sunday through Saturday and sharpened them all on Saturday.

It looks like I'm about to buy another cell phone.

I'm a bit of a tech guy at times. I once spent about $600 on a cell phone back in 06' so I get it. But $1300 for a phone?!?! I can't see it. My problem is that the new phones arr only about this )( much better than the model that's one year older. By the time you actually use the new features the phone isn't dated lol.. And one year you can buy that same for less than half the price. These phones are only really at their best for about 3-4 years anyways.

My current phone was 2-3 years old 2 years ago. I'm only replacing it because I had a tool in my pocket that cracked the screen. I then somehow cracked it even more so now the screen is bleeding in the cracks.

None of the new phones I like that arr outside of the normal stuff like Apple and Samsung will even work with Verizon.

Well they cancelled my order, for the 124gr Federal HST, Citing a pricng error. Still not up for sale again yet. Soooo I got some HELO ammo made by NPA. I Hope it will be OK. If not at least it will beat ball ammo. I would rather have 124gr but 115 is kinda the industry standard for 9mm. And to kinda quote Doug Marcada, it will shoot. &

Mam, it’s easier to find a Publishers Clearing House winner than it is to find 9mm duty ammo.

Just got in my Glock 48 holster from TTGunleather and I am impressed so far. It (fit and finish and well, everything) rivals my Milt Spark VMII that cost about 40 dollars or so more. PLUS he threw in a different (Black) set of belt loops after I had said I forgot to order them origninally! SO, for about 120.00 (counting my "First Responder discount, and INCLUDING the postage) I have a brand new hand made for my Glock 48, holster. I'll up date Y'all after I've worn it for a while.

I picked up some ammo crates. Not a bad price for 3 50cal cans and a crate. I should be able to chuck a bunch of ammo into a SXS or ATV and have it actually stay secure. Plus storage.

Check out this ultralight sleeping bag for my get home bag. It is good to the 40 degree range and with a bivy I have coming...even lower. It's so small and light it's amaizing. It's a aegismax ultralight.

I have a couple oher bags that are much bigger and heavier that don't go much colder.

That is why I carry my Maxped Fatboy or jumbo everywhere, a d keep a GHB in whichever vehicle we are in. Why just last week I had some ahem, stomach problems. There wasn’t any TP in the restroom. NO PROBLEM, I just rummaged around in my “Man Bag”, dug out some “baby wipes” and finished the job.

I just ordered a Zero Tolerance ZT 0220. It came out about 4 years ago and I have always wanted one. I think it was discontinued sometime in 2020 and all of the regular online retailers had shown them as discontinued and not available. The only ones on ebay were selling for the introductory price or used. For about a year or so you could find one for about $50-$60 less than that. I broke my bag of searchfu managed to find one website with them for the discounted price.

Order is in. This is my second time ordering one and the last time the dealer got kind of screwy. I had to file a claim on them and it kind of soured me on buying the knife. I think this is a good first purchase for 2021.

Thanks for the heads up but they managed to process the order and get it shipped. Says it'll be here Wed. 1/20. I bookmarked the link just in case.

USPS has been mighty flakey these last few months so who knows if I'll get it. Packages sit at the local distro here for weeks with no updates. Nothing has gone back yet but there was a thing a few years ago where they were sending my packages back. In fact when I think about it that's probably what happened with first ZT0220 I ordered. The company tried to charge me shipping to send it to me again and then tried to charge me a restocking fee for a refund. After I filed a claim they up and asked me did I still want to purchase the knife from them. I never replied.

I have been using the same style slings for 50 years. USGI. I liked the simplicity of the first one I used and then bought a bunch of government surplus and still using them. No bells and whistles like modern types but they work well for my purposes.

I have a vtac on my SA Edge and like it. Ordered an inexpensive simple one for the Ruger. Just want one to be able to sling it if needed and more importantly for me- to be able to practice transitioning to pistol from rifle (carbine).

LOL, I would be lying if it hadn't looked at the cage and the bed and thought you could mount an M-60 to the cage, add some cross traps in the bed and have a technical. But I'm putting a roof on it so I can have some shade and a little protection from hail and rain. I settle for some creature comforts. I mean it has a glove box and cup holders. I didn't even have a cup holder in my squad car until 2016.

I just picked up 400 rounds of 22@Walmart for about $60. CCI Stinger stuff, not the 525 round bricks, unfortunately. But ammo is ammo these days

Also picked up 500 .277 90gr Speer Gold Dots ($84) for the 3 SPCs in the house, and 200 70gr .224 Sierras ($31), and six 308 mags for $15 each at Midway. I have a zero gravity device for it, so no problemo.

Actually weight is why we decided on fullers to lighten it up a touch. I have a Zombie Tools Deuce III that weighs 3lbs 7oz that I can swing, just not as fast or controllable as I want to. This one being an inch and a half shorter and a pound lighter should be OK, I hope.

Besides, I am stronger than I look. Just stand down wind of me!

I can’t even chop wood too long with my heavy khukuri which weigh about 3-4 pounds. But my 18” and 20” combat khukuris weigh about 16 to 18 ounces and are very easy to wave around. My katanas aren’t heavy but I can’t do the forms anymore.

I picked up the 18” Kobra khukuri. I already have the 20” and 25”. It only weighs 18 oz so should be easy to swing around. If you want to see it go to Himalayan Imports and click on Khukuri and then Kobra.

2 Plano 50 cal Ammo boxes for $16.00. Was able to combine 4 Ammo boxes worth into those 2.

Better than a G48 and carries better as well!

Ray, I had an officers model way way back in the ‘80s. Carried nice, but didn’t really care for that short of a bbl. SEVERAL years later I got a Springfield V10 ultra compact. Shot nice and carried well. BUT when I qualified with it and it took wood off the barricade position, I got rid of it because I didn’t want it doing to me what it did to the barricade.

I guess now that I think about it more, I’ve had 6 or maybe 7 1911 pistols over the years, and this is the best one. And the somewhat rarity is a plus. Now I just need a set of Ivory Micarta slimline compact grips with a Templar Knight or the Gunsite Raven on them. (girls ain’t the only ones that like a little bling)

As a side note, I once had a Cylinder & Slide Hi Power that he worked on for me when I was stationed in Omaha. STUPIDLY I got rid of it the second time I went over seas. Crazy with his reputation, but back then I bet his shop wasn’t but about 30 X 40 or so, maybe.

FINALLY found some 45 Ammo. A hundred rounds for a Buck a pop! But I was able to get it for 80. Still way to much, but I need some practice Ammo. Don’t want to be shooting my Federal HST duty Ammo for practice rounds. But I got a nice gun to shoot them through.

I'm not a dress up kind of guy. I don't even own a nice suit. But I also don't own any tennis/basketball shoes and never dress all bummie either. So I saw these and figured I could add a nice pair of boots to the top end of my footwear selection. I liked the oxford look with the wingtip detail. I only wear boots of one sort or another and I don't particularly like slick bottoms on my footwear. So this dress boot style upper with the lug sole has style and function right where I like it.

Can get all dressed up for date night at the tactical gun range!!!

The tenacious is a good blade, but if you want a brute, check out the L’il Temperance, another really nice blade. Unfortunately they don’t make them any more but I have a spare, I like it so much.

2 new optics. Got a Primary Arms 2x Prism scope for 16" upper. It is better than I thought it would be...better glass, eye relief and the illumination is super bright. Also did decide to get Eotech and will be ordering prescription shooting glasses. That is on the new 14.5" and it is awesome!

Had them both out yesturday and am totally pleased. The donut of death is so much faster and more accurate for me than a red dot. I love the Holosun 510c for various roles, but the light is emitted from the rear of it and could be blocked by rain/dirt...whatever.

Am getting the hang of a 2x with one ups...getting used to it quicker than I thought I would. That is a versatile little optic.

Welcome to a fellow ham. Coyotebc. That TYT 9800 looks interesting and much cheaper than the Yaesu. How does it perform for you? I’ve run a very simple inverted V wire antenna in my back yard for many years and made some very interesting contacts including antarctica. Of course. I can’t compete in contests with guys using tri-banders on 100’ towers but I still have a lot of fun. I hope you can put together a shack.

It works okay, but I only really use the 2m and 70cm bands
I may be getting rid of the current antenna and getting a dual band one.
I 4x4 and the current antenna needs to be folded down when offloading.

I picked up a Ruger PCC takedown. Kind of a neat little rig. It uses Glock mags and breaks down and assembles really quick. I shot a friend's on Monday a got a decent deal on one today. It's surprisingly fun to shoot and far more accurate than I would have expected.

This is probably going to be my truck gun.

When I am camping I usually have either a Rossi Ranch Hand (44 remmag) with a full stock.
12" barrel swings nice
Or a short barrelled (12 inch) pump shotgun

I like mine a lot but just be heads up on extractor issues MB. Mine was flawless for 800 rounds then turned into a stovepipe machine. An upgraded extractor and it was gtg again...but seems to be a common issue.

You might consider a Kangaroo carry holster. Its like a belly band made of linen with a shoulder strap. Very comfortable and not restrictive.

I’ve seen those MB, but never gave them much thought.

Right now I am using a Vedders Comfort tuck. VERY comfortable holster but it is not for my VP9 although it does fit and “loc’ in” as much as a straight hybrid will lock.

Now that it is getting broken in the gun isn’t to secure (very loose) when it’s not under my belt. Then again I guess that’s just the nature of all “cross breed” knockoff holsters. I’ll keep checking the fit and looking at new holsters. That’s part of the fun of getting a new gun, accessorizing

All joking aside, I really do like the mini-15. I wear a kinda tight medium glove (got kinda fat fingers) and it does “fit me like a glove”.

I carry a mini bug out for a Sheeple blade in my left front pocket. My Social Breakdown was my Micro Commander for it’s size, but have always preferred the mini-15. Before the MC I carried my black bladed mini-15, but gave that to a friend that needed a good reliable tough folder. Turns out it’s one of if not his favorite “oh crap” blade. Makes me proud of the young feller.

Anywho, to me the 3.5 inch blade isn’t to long for an edc pocket blade. I can and have carried my full-size 15 but it is a bit longer than what I like. I like enough room to carry something else besides the knife in my pocket although I usually don’t. Now if I was going into a questionable area where I couldn’t carry a gun and would be there for quite some time, I would and have carried my full size 15. I’m talking of course about “shoot me” zones. I may need to get a TS finished full size 15 when/if they come out with one.

Y’all know how I like my Karambits. Well I feel as if the CQC-15 line is a better “novice” blade (yes I do mean me). Is the K’bit a scarier looking blade, yeah I think so. If just the looks would stop an altercation, great. But for overall function, a less specialized skill set, I think the ‘15 is better. At least for me. I am not a pro by any means, just a grumpy old man that believes in at least having the ability to protect myself, my family and those unable to protect themselves from the increasing “unsociable” individuals that are being allowed to roam our streets.

I will ALWAYS have at least one of the following on me when away from the house, IF ABLE, all three.

1. Handgun (right now H&K VP9
2. A knife ( 2 actually, One never seen, for antisocial occurrences, and one “Sheeple” for all those weird woke folk).
3. My Blackthorn stick usually, or if I feel the need to “upscale”, my Cane Masters EDCCP (Every Day Carry Cane Plus)

Our big Keurig coffee maker had to go. Based upon Ray’s brand name recommendation I ordered an ESPRO 0 travel type French Press. It will make all the coffee I need at one time, plus it won’t take up any where near the room on our crowded kitchen cabinet.

SLIGHTLY modified my JX Tactical Fat Guy Holster yesterday. Knocked off one of the “angled” parts of the holster near the retention screw then “rounded” it off just a touch with a file, some fine sandpaper and then a scotch bright pad to smooth it all down. Amazing how something so minor can make such a large difference in comfort. Plus I can now wear a size smaller shirt (and possibly pants) without my gun printing.

1. My S&W model 60-10. 5 shot Stainless adjustable sights and 3 inch barrel
2. Colt King Cobra. 6 shot Stainless and 3 inch barrel.

It’s the size, not necessarily how you use it.

My Model 19 and Chief’s Special carried fairly well also. Then I transitioned to a Colt .45 acp and liked that much better. I started a long love affair with SA pistols and never went back to carrying a revolver.

I probably won’t carry the Revolver much, just wanted a second one and lucked (I think) out. Mostly now I carry my VP9 with the TLR-1 light on it . Again, although it’s kinda large it Carrie’s VERY well in my Fat Guy holster.

I got a Glock 43x a while back and the Palmetto State Micro, which is a 43x clone. The PSA is much more comfortable to shoot and the trigger has a lot better feel. I may swap the Glock trigger with a Tactical Pontoon trigger in the near future. They seem to the the best replacement triggers out there for Glocks and clones.

I picked up a 100 Watt briefcase Solar Panel, a Goal Zero YetI 300 power bank and a adapter for the solar panel to charge it..

I also picked up a 25 watt GMRS mini transceiver that I can run from a cigarette lighter plug.

Between the three I should be good for power and comms with friends and family.

Sounds like a good setup. I’ve seen great reports on Goal Zero products. A 25 watt radio sucks down battery power a lot faster than a 5 watt one. I hope the radio has selectable output power.

Well, I did a reverse Twofer today. Traded in my Beretta PX4 Pistol and Carbine for a like new Savage MSR in 5.56. Plus it has about 200 bucks of upgrades over the stock gun.
