HOME THEATRE - 12/10/07 10:46 PM
This definitly qualifies for winter survival <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
When you have less than 8 hours of daylight and it is -30 you tend to spend a lot of time indoors. I am really cheap and hate to spend money on things that are not knives and things that lose their value. But I have finally decided to bite the bullet and retire my 21 inch ,100$ RCA and get a decent TV. I am leaning towards a projector as we can write if off as my work often involves doing power point and I had borrowed a buddys and loved it.
I would say about half the TV I watch is on my computer ,usually downloaded with U-Torrent. I already have a excellent HP laptop with the full media centre and a slightly older AMD PC with a very good open source version. The CCCP bundle is so good I use it on the HP instead of the Windows one. I also have an old but quite nice and powerful home theatre amp. It is so old it has Dolby pro logic and Laser disk outputs but it also has tons of S-Video and RCA jacks so can still use it.
I am not going to bother with HD. Just a good quality projector or LCD.
I would love some suggestions and advice as well as hearing what you all have.
I jury rigged a surround sound from a bunch of decent car stereo speakers and the amp. So really all I HVE to get is a TV/Projector and possibly a video card.
So what should I get? am I right about my amp and computer being enough? the car stereo speakers and Pioneer VSX-D901S actually sound pretty good. I wired it so the speakers are getting the proper 4 ohm juice not the 8 that come out of home systems. The wiring looks insane though and we can never have pets.
Help me please!
