I've been seeing all these threads about people making thier own custom ferro rods, so I got to thinking.

and this is what I came up with:


drilled it, mixed up some JB weld and let it sit overnight, I figure when the fatwood gets skimpy I just sand it off and put on a new piece.

I think this is so clever now I want to start a thread on PSK's or personal survival kits. I have a couple ferro rods and even a chunk of fatwood a buddy sent me but nothing that cool.

Good idea, I'll have to buy some plain ferro rods, wonder if there's any for sale on BF right now. RC is coming out with a firesteel/tinder capsule jig that's pretty convenient.
