"Lone" Hike...

"Lone" Hike... - 06/14/09 06:00 AM

So, the plan was to take my wife's brother and their cousin hiking this morning.

They ditched me at literally the last minute.

I went anyway.

The aspens looked so awesome and were crazy green compared to even a few weeks ago.

There was a threat of thunderstorms, but it was a very beautiful overcast day.

This was someone's attempt at a bridge. I've crossed worse.

Two miles up (with a good climb the last half mile or so) and you get to Silver Lake.

My gear. Badlands Whitetail Hybrid pack. Heavy, but very comfortable.

My tools: SOD (with an "El Clintor" lanyard!), DMDC, Spyderco Tenacious and a SwissTool.

Unfortunately fires are not permitted in the Lone Peak Wilderness, I didn't have a lot of time today to spend at the lake and I couldn't find a dead piece of wood to chop for the life of me. So they all went unused.

It started raining on the way out, which actually made me happy. I miss Seattle and hiking in the rain, it felt good.

Super-duper great hike!

Notice how I turned the tek-lok on my DMDC so I can wear it horizontally on my hip belt. Worked great.

Awesome pics!!

That looks like a day well spent!

The "bridge" over troubled water looks like you would do better by jumping over it instead of twisting a ankle on the twigs eh?

Wonderful scenic views, thanks so much for sharing them!

Peace.

Good call, but the stream is wider than it looks in the photo. And the thing is practically a waterfall just to the right of the picture. I did jump a couple other streams though, I completely agree with you, especially because I was alone.

Hiking in the rain is the best! Super pics, Utah is gorgeous and I can't believe you still have snow. Seattle is cool too, I really enjoyed the coffee!

Thanks guys, I'm still a bit sore, but seriously ready to go again.

I had a good time on my own, but I honestly prefer to go with others... next time.

Matthew, hit me up!

Amazing pictures....When I get digital , I'll send you pics of Jurassic Park Florida. I miss out west , seasons , mountains , rock and snow. But here the in beautiful glades and lakes of Fla., we live for winter and hurricanes...Alot of lightning and storms and vast swamp , wetlands and jungle. I give tours if you Dogs are headed to Disney and want to see the real FLA...Its cool we Dogs live generally all over the world and we see where the other Dogs live and play. Thanks guys for the views and scenes.
