Time in Bush ?

Time in Bush ? - 01/25/10 10:33 PM

Just wondering how many days other guys on board spend in the Bush/Woods (outdoors) using their gear ? ( Knives- multi- flashlights etc) Whether it be camping - hiking- climbing- rafting-fishing etc. In other words- out in the middle of nowhere where most of us probably LOVE it !! I was gone from home approx 115 nights last year doing some form of this but I am semi retired and also practically " live" in the woods -so I am not counting that. I know a bunch of ya'll are avid outdoors folks - so this should be interesting. Thanks

Not near as much as I'd like! I'd say probably 3-5 days a month is all I get to go play. I know I'm going to Mammoth Cave this weekend though and I'm looking forward to it.

I'd love to get out more often.

I do get out a lot during hunting season, and get out a lot in the spring and summer for fishing and camping.

Hey Bob,
As you know, I just got back into fishing this last summer/fall.
First time in over 35 years.
My step-son and I spent a lot of time at the local lakes catching fish in late
summer, and all through the fall.
Put quite a few away for winter eats...yummmm!!!!
Nothing like pan fried trout cooked up in olive oil with garlic and onions and
pan fried potatoes.

Cheers
Dave

I'm out a lot during hutning season. Some for my recreation some for others.

Recently, I have been out walking fence lines, and generally exploring some property but I'm always home at night and back in a warm bed.

As was already stated, not nearly enough. The last time was the day after Thanksgiving and I'm dying! It's affecting my core happiness and I need to go out this weekend.

So thanks for inspiring me, Bob!

Last year I went out quite a bit and I hope to this year as well. I try to plan at least one trip (even if it's just a day hike) once a month, but twice if I can.

I am planning a week long backpacking trip to the Uintas this August.

I'm pretty stoked for that.

Bob, I never went away, just have gone easy on the posts while trying to sort
out the employment / school situation.

Was going to go ice-fishing this winter, but it's gotten so warm up here, that
it really isn't safe to go to many of the lakes around my area.

Cheers
Dave

I spend alot of time in the summer out in the Mountains. I rarely get a chance to spend more than 2 weeks at a time in the back country though. Thats a one time shot during Elk archery season. After that its a day here and there and a few 4 day weekends over the summer. Then a day at a time hunting and hiking.
