Thanks everyone. Surgery was positive. I was afraid my meniscus would be at 50% or less. Doc said the tear was such that if he removed it, the meniscus would have been at 0%. He stitched it and then abraded the surrounding tissue to get blood to the area (middle of meniscus has no blood supply, needed to allow it to repair). No OATS procedure was necessary, but because of the repair (right in the middle and bearing the weight) I need to stay off of it for at least a week, possibly a month. Due to the tears in the rotator cuff I can't use crutches well, so I'm using a walker. Feeling pretty geriatric grin At least it shouldn't be a horrible or excessively long recovery (might have needed up to 9 months), although the PT is gonna be miserabled, especially if my knee is immobile for a month!

feederle, would love to replace the joint, but given my genetic make up, it would mean I would be without knees by age 60 and then I'd really be screwed. I'm not a normal patient. grin
