The DM is a tough little bugger. While its not a chopper by definition its heft gives it some oopmh when chopping, at least more than other knives in that size. It's plenty thick to pry just about anything open that it needs to. Batonning is about as good as any other knife, though its size will limit the diameter of branches it can handle.

The size of te DM is its biggest quality in my opinion. It's not to big, nor is it too small. Bigger will chop better, smaller will excel at skinning. However, I've found that if its a pain in the butt to take with you then you'll leave it behind. The Dumpster Mutt's nicest feature is its ability to travel well and not be a pain in the butt to pack.

Perhaps the biggest negative with the knife is its smallish handle. If you have big paws then it might be a negative for you. However, that hasn't been the case with me.
