I generally don't oil my knives for storage aside from a quick wipe with tough cloth. But my less used knives still get used on a weekly basis. Never had a problem with rust but this is also the first time I left a knife with a super high polished edge covered with masking tape goo in a wet sheath for a day, DUH!

Rubbing doesnt seem to be helping much and I'm not about to repolish the edge so some quality chopping time is next on the list. While it may just be surface rust, some if it is pretty darn thick.

Just checked the weather...Thunderstorms tonight. This wont stop me from going backpacking, but I might wake up to another rusted dogfather!
