The pancake style type sheaths are what I carry my 1911's in. The only downside to that style vs. one where the belt attachment is behind and not to the side of the sheath is the pancake style takes up more room on your belt. I find that the pancake style tends to distribute weight better which is why I carry my 1911's in them, they are heavy. For a lightweight tool like a multi-tool, I would probably get something that took up less real estate since I usually have other stuff on my bat belt.
