I have always wanted to try an Al Mar out, that knife just looks like a utilitarian dsign. That HRLM you polished up looks like it came that way from the factory.
If you are used to Busse Knife Group knives, the Al Mar will seem very light and delicate in comparison. Even though it is S30V, there is no way it is as tough as the thicker, heavier Ratmandu, a knife about the same size. It has a very thin point. The emphasis seems to have been placed on the "Resistance" part of SERE. This knife is a fighter/utility design. Even the SOGs seem more rugged. I like the knife, but in a wilderness survival situation, I'd take the RMD, Gerber LMF 2, Dumpster Mutt, or Buck Strider Solution over it.
