I don't have any SR101 - but - I haven't had any staining issues w/ my SR77 (or INFI).

I've found that the best way to keep an edge nice and shiny is to get out and use it frequently <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Your experience sounds kinda strange (not saying I doubt it one bit) - I hope there isn't anything "wrong" with your blade!
