In Canada you will probably be charged if you shoot someone in self defence in your home even if he is an escaped serial killer. You will have a much easier time in court with a wood and ducks Remington 700 than you would with the exact same Remington 700 with a black synthetic stock and a tac light etc. Self Defence is not considered a reason to own a gun or carry a knife BUT if you happen to have one for what they consider a legitimate purpose and need it for self defence you can use it.
To the average sheeple black guns =evil death machines but wood= nice hunting rifles like grandpa had.
For example the FN Fal is a BLACK semiauto .308 and it is prohibited meaning most people can't have it. The Norinco M305 or Springfield semi version of the M14 is
a WOOD semiauto .308 and is perfectly legal with a basic hunting PAL(liscence).
The Norinco version is actually banned in the US is just as good as the Springfield version and only costs 400$ You can also get all the evil black stocks and even Sage gear that you can for the M14.
Does this make any sense? No but we are going to keep quite and by some cheap M14's before the antis figure it out.
Here is what the not evil M305 looks like.

Here is how I plan to mod an M305 when I get around to getting my PAL.

All the mags have to be pinned at 5 on centrefire rifles in Canada except Garands (8) and Enfields at 10. That's one major reason why I have a Enfield based Parker Hale.
Other than the PH I really only NEED a 12 gauge and a decent .22. I will probably pick up an M-305 because they are such a steal and in case they get banned.
