The steel in the weld would be as hard as it possibly could be, having cooled from molten and not being tempered. So you end up with a relatively soft item (the FFBM) being pounded between the hammer and the weld. It was only a matter of time until the FFBM gave out.

I believe gave out on the second pipe cut which was the same one the S6 gave out on. Interesting INFI is tough stuff. I wounder how the DF will compair.

On both tests the second cuts ended up going into the weld. It would be interesting to see how many cuts could have been made otherwise. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
