Interesting results, Vic. Prior to your test, the only advantage SR101 claimed to have over SR77 was edge retention. But according to your test results, that claim doesn't hold true. That raises some challenging questions, wouldn't you agree?
My test was not a scientific test of edge retention, Bruce, just a comparison under typical use. Both blades were still nice and sharp after hammering them through the oak limb. The SR101 may indeed have better edge retention, but I doubt that most users will ever know. Maybe some of our Canadian brothers can skin a couple of moose or bison and see which one needs sharpening first!
