In the military , bushcraft is simply a skill set. Depending on your job/mission(MOS) BC is the fine skills needed to survive at a higher state using basic rules for the field...use/bring minimal gear that is necessary for the duration of your mission. For instance...we usaully bring 3(redundant) cutting tools , depending on the AO (area of Operation)...machette , combat/survival knife, multi tool....additionally 3 source's of light..etc...remember: Mr. Murphy...anything made can fail(except Scrapeyards) ,so we learn field craft and if something fails , you still have the skills and backup tools to survive. We learn trapping, camouflage ,communication/signal , 1st aide , food prep. ,shelter....etc. All of the skills are called bushcraft or fieldcraft. We are trained in various environments , desert , mountain ,jungle ,frozen tundra....each require there own skill set. I've used it over the past 25yrs and its like riding a bike...
