The mouse pad strategy works really well. I used it to polish the edge when I had my grunt.

Usual grits of 200, 400, 600, 1000, 2000 are what people have. You can go even higher with other material that use various mesh fibers. 'Course this is for the extreme polish that many people can achieve with 1000-1200 grit. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
