I have been doing some long overdue knife projects this week. I reprofiled a barong, a golok, and a new bolo. And I sharpened a few others for some upcoming chop-offs.

This CS barong machete needed some work.

You can see the higher grind I'm doing has not yet reached the final edge. I am using 80 grit to take off steel quickly without heating the blade too much. This is 1055 steel.

I keep working it down until I get a bead or wire edge forming.

Once I have a wire edge along the whole blade, I switch to a finer grit. This is the blade after a few passes with 80 micron (about 200 grit).

Finally, I finish with 20, 15, and 9 micron belts for a finished sharp edge.
