Garand is an even better choice for us Canuks because it is the only semiauto that can leaglly hold more than 5 rounds(unless your Tyger and your work provides you a nice c7 with an elcan). 30-06 is a great round as well.

Another great canadian rifle is the norinco m305 which is a Chicom M14 semi auto clone that is only 400$ in Canada and is as well made as the Springfield versions.
