You are a brave man, CP. I did that river back in the 70s when the movie was out. The rocks along it are crawling with copperheads. The locals were pretty upset at the way they were portrayed in the movie. I have camped at Woodall Shoals many times. One canoeist drowned while I was there. My Navy Seal buddy and I scared the heck out of some college kids who were rafting the Chatooga and landed where we were camped. The guide thought we were locals. He asked us if we minded them having lunch there. We gave them the classic 1000 yard stare and John said, "You don't know nothin'". They all ran back to the raft and shoved off. We laughed about that all day.
