Yep, I'm afraid you're right Vic. I love the SR77, but this 154CM really is a better steel for these smaller EDC blades IMHO. I would love to see a 4" Mud Puppy. I would also like to get my hands on a 4" Hairy Carry. I wouldn't even mind if they made a 4" version of the Mud Puppy and thinned the blade out a little.

I think the problem that the Busse group ran into with 154CM is that everybody expects any blade made by the Busse clan to be able to pry open Humvee doors regardless of it's size or intended use. I think they would rather resume making all of their knives out of steels that can take extreme abuse even if that means that particular steel isn't the best for all situations. It is probably easier to do that than to explain to every mall ninja out there who may have been lucky enough to purchase a 154CM Busse kin blade that he can't pry the back off of robot zombies with it . Some people just don't get it.

It is like they built their entire reputation on super tough combat knives and a few minor tip failures on some thin pointed EDCs in stainless have stopped the new 154CM line. I hope I'm wrong about this, but the cancellation of the post Blade offerings has me wondering. I like my stainless Rat and Scrappers. That 154CM steel takes and holds a super edge, and that is what small slicers are all about. Not heavy batonning or prying oak.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
