It is necessary to understand that Scrapyard only makes a very small quantity of each model, and then sells them on a first-come/first-served basis. Typically a particular model of knife is sold out within 24 hours. Those who are part of the community see the alert before the stampede starts, and position themselves to buy one "or more" at the factory price. Then, once the dust settles, the "or more" are usually sold off at considerable markup; the seeming goal is to get a free knife via the profit on the spares.
So you either buy the one you want now at twice the original sale price... or you wait until something else is offered, hope it's something you're interested in, and that you manage to get one in the stampede. Frustrating, but that's the way things work.
As Northern1 points out though, Scrapyard makes an extremely good product (hence the demand), and it's warranted to last basically forever: if you break it, they'll make you a new one.
