So how it is done? I saw a post by Horndog that said he used a scotch brite wheel (fine), but damned if I can find one locally. So I went online and found a variety of scotch brite wheels. I think the one that is used for making a satin finish is the multi finishing wheel, but that is just by looking at Horndog's pic. there is also the high strength disc, but it only comes in medium and very fine. Any other tips appreciated.

I have used both kinds, polarbare. Keep your knuckles away from the high strength one! The wheels are not cheap, but they have made the single best improvement in my steel finishing of anything I have used. With these wheels on a small 1/2" arbor grinder, you can maintain a nice finish on even scratched up and well-used knives. Good investment. I found mine at MSC/J&L Metalworking.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
