I just picked up my tan Yard Keepers.
The YK is a really nicely sized knife.
It's small enough to be functional for a lot of controlled utility, and large enough to be a serious weapon.
The blade thickness and handle shape make it feel like it could do some light chopping.
The broad spine looks like it could handle some batoning.
It's broad enough that you could choke up onto the blade and skin with it if you had to.
The factor edge hangs on a thumb nail pretty well.
It will 'almost' draw cut paper, but has no prayer on a push cut.
The edge grind is pretty even; both along the length and from one side to the other.
It can definitely benefit from some sharpening.
I'm thinking Rainwalker is going to get a couple of sheath orders from me.
The YK seems viable as an EDC that could get you through some pretty tough times if it had to.
We're into prepping, and it always irks me that my carry gear and trunk gear seems to be the cheapest, least dependable, most expendable crap that we have.
With the YK and some 550 cord a back yard bushman could fare pretty nicely.
I think it's going to serve my needs very well.
First imression = terribly pleased with the purchase.
Now ...
There is no numbering like the on the BDLE and Muppy.
Why?
Also, there is no indication of the steel grade.
Is this SR-77?
In another thread I saw someone (Reconseed?) asking if the tan YKs were a "CG blade".
What does this mean?
Thanks.
