horn dog, how does the edge retention of infi compare to sr101 or bark river A2? I have never used infi and have no idea. I have used carbon V enough to know I like it, I also like the 5160 on ranger knives. I haven't used sr101 enough to know how it performs but so far it seems as good as the others. is there anyone here who thinks infi and sr101 have about the same edge retention? I ask because I would like to get a better camp knife.
I have never done a measured scientific test comparing them. I can tell you that all three steels have very good edge retention in my own experience. I have used SR101 quite a bit in my Chopweiler and Ratmandu, and it takes and holds a very sharp edge. My Barkies in A2 seem to do very well, too. My most used knife in INFI is my SS4, and it is scary sharp and seems to hold its edge very well. I know this isn't a precise or technical answer, but I have been pleased with all three steels.
