looks like a BRAVO-1.
hey, what pack is that your kid is wearing.i want something with a nice waist strap for mine.poor kid lugged the whole thing all the way in and never had a way to take the weight off his shoulders by tightening a waist strap.
thats the key, alternating the load between the waist and shoulders by tightening the waist strap and loosening the shoulder straps, then tightening the shoulder and sternum straps and loosening the waist straps ect. ect.
The knife is the Bravo-1.
The pack is my wifes Osprey. It's an extra small, but still is just a bit long for him. Osprey does make a model for youth called the Jib. It has an awesome adjustable torso length. Pricey though. You are definitely right about alternating the load points. Also, a good pack that locks the weight onto your lumbar area is important. When I get mine adjusted right, I can loosen up the shoulder straps completely to give the upper body a rest.
