a saber grind that starts half way down the blade is often more obtuse. the busse saber grind is a very high saber grind. my choppweiler has a saber grind that starts a quarter way down the spine. I think the edges could be made to be very close in thickness. a lot of blades that are full flat grinds are more narrowa, so with the wide design of the sod it will be as sharp or could be as sharp as another full flat grind like the dmdc or maybe the S6. I would have to know blade width to be sure. not thickness but width of the blade.the choppweiler is incredible and has a saber grind. the sarsquatch is the same length with a full flat grind. in the sod I want the saber. S7 is not cutlery steel and is a poor choice for a slicer. don't kill me but S7 is tool steel. I love the cgyk but for slicing I go cpm154, 154cm, other stainless, 52100, 1095 and others, not in that order.
