Leatherman and Swisstools are about the most popular in the world (Leatherman really floods the market abroad). SOG and Gerber are also "up there" in terms of popularity and numbers.

They all have their pros and cons, I have most of the big names (except a gerber because they get the most negative reviews over all).

Me, myself, my favorite EDC is my Victorinox-Swisstool-Spirit (not to be confused with the Swisstool). Great tool selection, great shape and size that fits your hand perfect (considered a medium MT), great corrosion resistance and a lifetime warranty, LM is 25 yrs, that really bugs me!

If you can, hold and play with any MTs your thinking of getting, that really helps because we all have different size paws and needs, likes and dislikes.

I believe you can't go wrong with any Swisstool (for quality), Leatherman (so many good models) and SOG (strongest pliers in the biz and the only one you can customize/switch-out easy).
