I always encounter the term of "normal use" from knife makers and people using knives. I heared a lot of things like "indestructible in normal use". But what usually means that "normal use"? And is it something general, or for each knife manufacturer "normal use" may have different meanning? Does normal use in general mean cutting in food or other soft materials only? Does it include chopping in wood or things like that? And what does "abuse" mean?

I personally thing abuse means to force the knife over its limits. But how do I know which are its limits? Does it mean abuse if I use the knife for anything other than cutting?

I'm not refering to Scrap Yard knives only, but also to knives in general... So my generic question can be splitted in two different questions: What do you understand by "normal use"? and What people usually understand by "normal use"?
