(Before you answer, keep in mind that 4" knives constructed of 3/16"-thick SR101 are capable of

And SR101 doesn't have as much lateral strength as SR77 does.) actually Bruce (not to "split hairs") the lateral strength wouldn't have much to do with the ability of it's ability to cut hinges off car doors.
sr101 MIGHT have even performed better at that than sr77... because of it's stronger edge.
But I do agree.
3/16" thick sr77 will take a LOT to break.
you probably can't even apply enough pressure on that little handle to break it!

after a certain point, thickness just adds weight, and decreases cutting ability.
I would want the thinnest I could go without sacrificing strength/toughness in a knife the size of the yardkeeper.
thats why I love it!
not obnoxiously thick...
but still has great lateral toughness.
