I'm brand new to scrapyard knives. I don't even have one so I can't comment on them. I did buy a swamprat howling rat years ago with the rec s handles and it was the smartest knife buy I ever, ever had. It was tough, and simple and it did everything I wanted and more. I still have it, and while its stripped, and well used its still kicking. Noticed that swamprat stopped making the res c handle knives so I went looking for a larged fixed blade like the old camp tramp. I'm headed out to a small island off the coast of maine for a little camping and clearing so I wanted a large fixed blade that was super tough. Thanks to the economy I didn't think I could get a scrapyard and had no idea what they offered. Imagine my surprise when I saw some testing vids and saw the res c handles, and super tough blades. Imagine my bigger surprise when I saw the afforable price AFTER I'd already bought a kabar heavy bowie to take with me when an extra 20 bucks would have gotten some tough quality blade. So I'm forced to take the kabar with me in a few weeks but I plan on getting a few scrapyards whenever I can. So here's to doing thorough research before you buy.
