It seems some distance has been drawn with what was once "surplus" and what that niche has/is filled now. I've watched other threads that skirt this issue....
thank you for presenting your own personal experience with use and migration of "surplus" gear!

It seems the more things change the more they come back to the same - like the use of a midsize dump pouch.
