I am not thrilled with sr77. it is amazing for s7 but I do see a difference in edge retention. I would love a khuk in sr77 but I would like to see it in sr101 also.
It's true that SR101 holds a better edge and longer, but SR77 would be fine for a khukuri. At least it is easy to sharpen. Look at machetes. Many have much softer steel than SR77, and they work just fine.
