Not that they would if they could, but they can't. They don't have the votes. Having squandered every opportunity to do the right thing, they have become the party of borrow and spend and more big government. Then they nominated a "maverick" who opposes both the first and second amendments and has gotten more political mileage out of his military service than even John Kerry. They even created a new secret police force to watch us all. Now we are supposed to believe that they really are opposed to all the bail outs, nationalization of private businesses, and debt that Dubya the Moron himself started? The GOP needs to purge itself of all these RINOs. Arlen Specter's recent switching is a good start. One day, when the people have had enough of the ultimate nanny police state, there needs to be a party with a real alternative. The Libertarians have been around forever and have accomplished nothing. I think the Republicans are going to have to get back to actually being Republicans.
