crazy slow - if I had to guess, it's a bunch of new people perusing the Gear sticky. I don't know how much bandwidth the SYK forums have but what I'm seeing on this end is consistent with brief high bandwidth consumption. Latency to the east coast is 85ms nominal with activity spikes above 500ms and a few more extreme peaks in the 1.2s range. Looks like picture-intensive thread activity to me.

oop - spoke too soon - as my data develops I'm seeing a pattern inconsistent with bandwidth consumption spikes and it looks like it might be more of a bitrate consideration - yeah I'm saying definitely more like bitrate. Hey Boss, call your ISP, tell them to get the cable guy out there...
