It's been Christmas for me today!
I came home to find the box from Lee Valley, containing all the belts I ordered for my Kalamazoo belt sander coming to me, a box with my new Dovo straight razor that was back ordered, as well as a box with the Ferro rod, Magnesium rods, and Tuf Cloth that I ordered. Yipee!
I was so excited opening all the new accessories for my knives, and playing with the Ferro rod, striking sparks. (I ordered the 1/2" x 12", the largest available)
Then, I started wondering when my new belt sander would show up... KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! Huh?
There's the UPS guy at the door with my sander! WOO HOO! They charged me $91.00 in brokerage fees!
Well, at least I have it now.
The only downside to today was when I opened up the box, and noticed that the free X-weight sanding belt they sent with it was ripped. DANG IT!
Does anyone know where I can order some of these belts? In comparing them to the ones I got from Lee Valley, they have a much better backing for when you're doing any reprofiling.
I've already christened the Kalamazoo; I started practicing my skills on a cheap $25CAD Cold Steel machete, and a couple knives I brought back from Afghanistan. WOW! I'm loving this thing! Very easy to pick up how to put a razor edge on the straight part of the blade, but I gotta practice on getting the edge on the curved portion. It'll come with time.
HornDog, watch out! My weekends are gonna be spent becoming an expert on this thing! I might just become as good as you at putting a scary sharp edge on Bussekin blades!
