No, Res C, micarta, and G10 are pretty much immune to it. Like Jerry's new paint. It is a lot of work to get a good looking satin finish on a big blade with a 1/3 hp 1" belt sander. I'll have to be in the "groove". I really wanted a NMSFNO LE, but they were over $700! I don't have the stuff to reattach the handles so I just leave mine rough around the ricasso and pommel flats and leave them on. Look at how rough the steel is still after an hour of sanding.
