Like most folks, I look at all the factors. My priorities are like this:

1. Type of knife. No matter who makes it, what the steel is, or what the price is, it must first be a knife I am interested in. Appearance figures in this part, too.

2. Maker. That will determine that the handle and steel are quality materials and suitable for the type of knife it is.

3. Price. This may be first in some cases. I am just not interested in any $1000 knife, unless you have Jim Bowie's from the Alamo and can prove it.

4. Need. Hahaahaahah! Right.
