Using 180 grit lapping compound & crocus cloth. It not only dulls the finish making it look double cut, it gets into the metal's pore's and resists rust. I have some 15 year old 1-2-3 blocks & parallels with no rust at all.

The old Western Auto 22. & the Mossberg shot gun were painted by me. (Just the receiver & barrel on the shotgun) The black rifle is a Tikka T3 300 WSM with a 4.5 X 14 Burris. the pistols are 9mm's.
