I think it's a little premature to suggest that Dan will abandon SR77. It's really difficult to make better performing knives for less money than SR77 knives. On the other hand, if you really analyze it, Dan would be abandoning his own motto if he didn't feel that the increase in price for producing SR101 knives was worth it. Or to put it another way, the additional premium we're paying for SR101 is justified by the increase we're getting in performance. Otherwise I doubt Dan would be making knives out of SR101.

Anyway, as others have pointed out, Scrap Yard knives are superb regardless of the alloy Dan uses. And he's managing to keep his prices affordable. So AFAIC, it's all good! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Bruce and others hit it good!

And I'm sure Dan knows exactly what he is doing, if you take the Dog father for example, the choice of SR77 was a perfect fit, if you take the Muk, darned if 154 wasn't a excellent choice there, and now the S5...in SR101, and infi, what really more could ya ask for......Dan's ability to give us the most performance for the price still rings true, if he stayed with the SR77 on the S5 CG release, it'd be nothing more than a tricked out D.M., this time he gave us a blade that WILL hold its edge longer at a fantastic price, I don't think he will abandon anything, he just knows what works with each model the best.
