There was a major lighting storm while I was at Boy Scout camp. A one foot diameter tree was hit by lighting and shattered. What was left of the top part crushed the tent next to mine. Fortunately the guys who were using it left the day before and its next occupants arrived the day after. Some of the shards of wood that blew off of it were shaped like the blade of a Kriss dagger.
Yikes. Glad you made it through. That could've been nasty. I've had a few close encounters with lightning myself and they weren't pleasant.
