Now this is just me, because I have a bunch of 7" to 8" blade knives, but if I had one I would not need the other. The Regulator does have a certain cool factor, and I am sure that it would do fine as a camp knife. And it has that awesome SR101 steel. But the SOD is super camp knife and I think it would be better, but only the dogs who have both can tell us for sure. .......
