If your primary purpose is chopping don't buy a 6" bladed knife, period. As others have stated the strength of the S6 is that it is a "do anything" knife. You can handle tasks as diverse as prepping food or cutting tent stakes yet still press it into service chopping wood where it will do a credible job as WD stated.

It's a terrific knife to hike with because it is relatively light despite its size and yet retains a wonderful balance in the hand.

That's all pretty much why I love my CT so much...plus the chopping/ability for shelter/fire...

I was asking more b/c that's a lot of what I think of when i think of an all-rounder. Lot's of folks like 5" as an all rounder too...guess it depends on how you look at it, what you want to get done etc...
