Thanks for all of the info guys. There are sooo many binocs out there it is really tough to decide...
I am leaning towards a pair of Nikons that are around $80. They get 4.9 out of 5 stars with a bunch of reviews and everyone says they are the best you can get for under $100. They are only 10X25 though so I am wondering if the 25mm is too small or not...? Anyway, keep the info and suggestions coming...I'm still researching and looking. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I need to order by Friday though so I get them in time for my trip.
2 things to remember... the smaller the objective (25mm in your 10x25) the lower the light gathering capabilities... i.e. they aren't as bright as a 10x50 in the same light conditions...(a rule of thumb, of course quality of the lenses and manufacturing play a big part as well)
the other is that the higher the power.. the 10 in your 10x25.. the steadier your hands should be.... just go to a sporting goods store and see if you can hold them still enough.... the difference in 8 vs 10 is more dramatic than you think... anything after 7 power starts to get dicey if your have shaky hands... of course a mono-pod or rest helps.... believe me... a fine pair of 10 power glass can make you seasick if you have the tremors... not a big concern for some of the younger, strong guys on here, and you may be one...but as you age....well, it just sucks..
