Bonanza day!! I went back over to Louisville to get some Old Overholt (as noted before, it's a cheap Rye, but quite good and surprisingly hard to find), and discovered that they'd just received their Van Winkle shipment. They had 10 YO Rip Van Winkle for a lot less than I paid for the one bottle I'd been able to find previously ($27.39 vs $36.99) so I bought the 5 bottles that store had left. Then, I decided to call the Fern Valley store and see if they had some too. They had almost 2 cases, so I bought a full case from them. I'm set for a good long time with a Bourbon that I know I like, and feel like I got a great deal on it although I'd spent over $500 on Bourbon and Rye by the time the dust settled.

They also had 15 YO for just less than $50, 20 YO for about $110, and 23 YO Pappy for just under $220 (the other two bottles I'd found before were $80 more). I'm content with the 10 YO, although I was tempted to buy one of the 15s. If I were to get a 20 or 23, I'd probably never open it. Heck, the Rip Van Winkle I bought should keep me going for more than a year.
