I have both a SoD and a DF, and the DF definitely chops better - the question to ask yourself is whether you need it to chop better.

I honestly don't do much all-out chopping with big knives - for me, the most common use of a big knife is brush clearing / limbing, and batoning. For both of those, extra length is useful, but not as useful as it is for pure chopping.


I have mulled over selling either the SoD or the Dogfather, or even both, because I've got a lot of knives around those sizes. So far, I've decided to hang onto them, but they don't really do that much differently from other big knives I have. The main thing making me hang onto them is those sweet, sweet res-c handles.
